Assisi The majestic town of immense beauty and spiritual significance where St. Francis of Assisi was born in 1182. You will enjoy a guided tour with time to explore and shop afterward. Lunch on your own at your own pace.
Cortona in Tuscany, where Frances Mayes wrote the book “Under the Tuscan Sun”. Great for strolling, shopping, museums, and boutique shops. Cortona is one of my favorite hilltop villages. Lunch on your own at your own pace. Before returning to the villa, I’ll tell you where to meet me for a Prosecco Party.
Market Day in Castiglione Del Lago & Cooking class in the hills of Piegaro, where I live. You will learn the secrets of Italian cooking. Afterward, enjoy the fruits of your labor with wine on a terrace while the birds are chirping & glasses of wine are flowing. Another great day
Deruta, First stop Maioliche Artistiche Tassi, where you will see the process from beginning to end of gorgeous hand-painted pottery. The colors and patterns are treasures speaking to you to take them home! Afterward, lunch at Taverna Del Gusto in Deruta or explore other shops. Antica Fornace has a kiln that is over a thousand years old. This kiln was discovered while the family was renovating!
Perugia, The capital of Umbria, The capital of Umbria has so much to offer. The medieval Priori Palace exhibits regional art from the 13th century onward. Looking onto Piazza IV Novembre, the Gothic cathedral houses Renaissance paintings and frescoes. In the square’s center, Fontana Maggiore is a marble fountain with carvings of biblical scenes and zodiac signs. Guided tour, so you don’t miss a thing.

Grape Squishing is offered during September 21-28 & October 5-12 at Le Cimate Vineyard. You will squish grapes like Lucy! Bring your costumes! Well, I went from a cast on my ankle to a castle...Finally able to get around! I visited the Castle of Montegiove built in the early 13th century. The Marquises Misciattelli family has owned the property for the last four centuries. This beautiful tranquil estate covers 1200 hectares of land which includes a farm, vineyard, olive grove, and country house. Lorenzo Misciattelli the owner, told me they work the land along with their employees which explains the passion he and his family have for the castle. We enjoyed a wine tasting, a porchetta panini, and local cheeses made right in the little village of Montegiove below the castle. I was so surprised to see my favorite “Porchetta Man, Franco!

Lago Trasimeno: The fourth-largest lake in Italy known for its 3 islands. You will start your day in the village of Passignano, take a ferry over to the island of Maggiore, walk around have lunch or stay and explore this quaint lakeside village.

Free Day: Relax and enjoy the villa. We can arrange for you to have a massage at the villa. Not included.

The other option is a cooking class with Chef Simona. Her website is www.sagraincasa.com The cost is 90 Euros per person. Your class takes place at Simona’s Farmhouse in the countryside of Allerona. You will pick fresh vegetables from her garden for the preparation of the dishes you will create. Afterward, enjoy the fruits of your labor on her beautiful terrace overlooking the hills of Umbria while the wine is flowing with sounds of laughter, chatter, and birds singing. Please let me know if you would be interested in taking this class as it must be booked in advance.

Vineyard in Bevagna & Olive Oil tasting in Bettona: You will visit a well-known local vineyard in the heart of Umbria for a wine tasting. This family takes pride in their organically grown grapes and Eco-friendly production of their award-winning wines. Afterward, we head on over to Bettona to meet a family of olive growers and millers and see the production of olive oil. Such an interesting and educational day. You will never look at olive oil the same again after this experience.
Lunch on your own in Bevagna.

The next stop is Antica Fornace where Giovanni will explain his family history and how they found an Etruscan Kiln that is over a thousand years old hidden behind a wall that they found while renovating their shop. Saturday pick-up at FCO Terminal 3 is 11:00 am
Saturday Departure from the villa to FCO is 9:00am
For guests arriving or departing at other times we can arrange for transportation hire. If anyone would like to extend their stay in Italy after the tour week and need transport, for example into Rome or Florence, this can be arranged and paid separately to the driver. This also applies to guests with an early departure back to the states. Hotels in Fiumicino or the beach town of Ostia are close to the airport and some offer shuttle service to FCO. The Hilton is also located right at the airport and a short walk to the terminals.
