The Traveling Nomads had to squeeze one more trip in before this vacation portion of our nomadic life, came to an end.

Shayna and I have checked in to a cabin at thousand Trails Mt Vernon. Back to remote work this week.

We decided to do a favorite drive of ours, the Mt Baker Hwy to Mt Baker. We drove through the towns of Prairie, Acme, Deming, Maple Falls, Glacier, (with a stop at the Wake and Bakery of course,) and un up to Mt Baker.

This scenery never gets old and with the Fall colors… it was the ahhhhhhh factor. The only thing missing was our travel companions of the last two weeks, Jill and Judy.

Time for an update of The Traveling Nomads. The Traveling Nomads, accompanied by Shayna’s Mom, Judy, and Aunt, Jill, are in Alaska once again. Sailing on Holland Americas, Eurodam, we have journeyed to Juneau and Glacier Bay NP so far.
Spectacular sights all around and the food on board has been delicious. While primarily dining in the main dining room, we do enjoy breakfast through room service while sitting on our balcony and enjoyed Canaletto's Italian restaurant.

Are you prepared for to travel to Europe in 2024?

Changes are coming to how US Citizens travel to Europe. A visa will be required.

ETIAS for American Citizens

ETIAS Eligibility

The United States of America will be a launch member of the ETIAS

American citizens will be eligible to apply for ETIAS in 2024
American citizens will benefit from a using an online application system to apply for ETIAS

Other ETIAS Requirements
American citizens can apply for ETIAS online
ETIAS is valid for arrival to Europe by air, sea or overland
Travellers must have an e-passport that is machine readable
ETIAS is for short tourist, business, transit and medical visits
Applicants under the age of 18 or over the age of 70 will receive their ETIAS free of charge

American citizens will be required to apply for an ETIAS to enter participating European countries on a short term basis, under 90 days, for general tourism, business, transit or medical purposes.

The ETIAS program will be in force from 2024 onward and is intended to screen travellers arriving from overseas as a response to the global increase in terrorist activities.

The ETIAS program was approved in 2016, and will take four years to develop the required systems that would tie in with existing immigration databases and other security data to provide a seamless new screening tool across the participating European countries.

In the year 2024, citizens from the United States of America will be required to complete an ETIAS application prior to boarding an aircraft, sea carrier, or coach vehicle for Europe, and this includes travellers who will only be transiting in Europe en route to other destinations.

Any American citizen that wishes to enter Europe for over 90 days, or for other purposes than those allowed under the ETIAS program will need to apply for a Schengen visa. Further details can be found by visiting https://etias.com/ and using the homepage assessment.

It is advised that American citizens complete their ETIAS application 96 hours prior to their departure date. Full details can be found by visiting the ETIAS requirements page or the ETIAS FAQ's. It is advised to review these pages prior to starting an ETIAS application to avoid any delays or the risk of an ETIAS being refused.

Starting in 2024, it will be a requirement to be a full American citizen before applying for an ETIAS, so travellers holding a passport or travel document with a different status will be required to apply for a full Schengen visitor visa, and not an ETIAS. U.S. Green Card holders will need to hold a passport from an ETIAS eligible country, otherwise, U.S. Green Card holders will require a Schengen Visa.

American citizens can expect their ETIAS application to normally be processed and approved within minutes, and the authorisation is sent by email in the form of a PDF document. There is no need to print or present any documents as the ETIAS is stored electronically against the passport details stored in the European Immigration system.

Good morning. Here is information on an Alaskan cruise for September 23, 2023! This voyage is on the Holland America, Eurodam.

One of the reasons I chose a voyage this late in the season, is it adds a reasonable chance of seeing Northern Lights. The days will be getting shorter and a stroll after late seating dining may present that opportunity.

I’m no YouTuber, but I’ve started using it to share our travels. Shayna and I are on Day 3 of our Alaskan Explorer aboard the ms Eurodam, a Holland America Cruise-line ship. Day two was at sea and we primarily just relaxed in our balcony stateroom. Today was Juneau. We spent some of our time handling travel business affairs and only spent a few hours roaming the streets! But we will look at that as soon as I put that video clip up.

But here’s a look at our first day, sailing out of Seattle, through Pugent Sound, and out into the Notth Pacific.

Hello travelers and adventurers! It’s been a long time. We hope that everyone has survived and doing well during the past couple of years. As you can imagine, it’s been a challenging time for the travel industry. We went to zero business during this time. We strongly considered folding up as overhead costs remained yet income did not…

But as the world starts to return to “normal,” the ability to travel has started to make a comeback!

We, ourselves, are testing the waters and are currently on a cruise in Alaska. We have an additional cruise with clients to the British Isles at the end of September.

I don’t mind telling you, I am in the high risk group of having the risk of complications with Covid, so we are definitely taking safety seriously and have so far found it to be a safe way to travel again!

So to summarize… we are back! It is safe, with some precautions on your behalf, to cruise again!

So if you have any questions in regards to cruising, hotels, all inclusive… let me know…
