I love visiting Ireland! So I thought why not just take students back there again in 2024 (along with Scotland & England, of course). Because asking "why not?" is so much more satisfying than asking "why?" :)

Unfortunately, we're unable to visit Peru this June. I guess we'll just have to make do with ITALY & GREECE!!!

Day 5 in Mont St. Michel & St. Malo. Today we hiked up the narrow and endless stairway to visit the island monastery at Mont St. Michel.
After a quick lunch at one of the multiple restaurants, we loaded back into the bus and headed out to the walled city of St. Malo for a bit of shopping.
We also enjoyed a dinner of ham and cheese galettes with chocolate crepes for dessert while in the beautiful city of St. Malo.

Day 4 in Amboise and Chenonceau. After breakfast, we enjoyed some free time walking around the beautiful city of Ambroise. It's location along the shallow Loire river made it an ideal location for Cameron to skip a few stones. We overwhelmed a lady a little bit when we piled into her bakery for lunch. We sat out on the sidewalk and absolutely devoured those sandwiches. There's just something about that bread!
After lunch, it was time to get back on the bus for a short drive to Château de Chenonceau. Many of the students recognized the place from Reign, a tv show about the French royal family. It's very unique in that it spans the Cher river like a bridge.
Afterwards, we returned to Amboise to your the château with our guide. Many people don't realize that Leonardo da Vinci spent the last 3 years of his life living in Ambroise by invitation from King Francois I. In fact, da Vinci is buried on the grounds of the château.
We finished the day with a meal of sausages and buttered potatoes followed by an apple tart. While the food was good, eating it in a troglodyte cave was what made the meal really unique.
We finished the evening with another fun and relaxing gathering outside of our hotel. We'll, it was relaxing until a big decided to join the party, which caused the girls to scream and jump onto the table and chairs.

Day 3 in Chartres and Chambord. Started the day again with a carb and caffeine-filled breakfast. Then we checked out of the hotel in Collégien (Paris) and headed toward the city of Chartres to check out one of the very best examples of a gothic cathedral. Lunch of pasta for some and sandwiches for others in the main square.
After lunch, we headed to Château de Chambord to see how the better half lived in the 16th century. The double staircase was very impressive. The hot weather dictated the need for yet another glace artisanale (ice cream) before we left for a chicken and rice dinner in the city of Blois.
After we checked into our new hotel, the girls wanted to walk down the road and get, of course, more pastries. Luckily, Lauren ordered an entire strawberry tart bc she couldn't figure out how to order only a slice in French. No one complained when she had to share it :)

Day 2 in Paris and Versailles. We had an early start with chocolate croissants, baguettes, fruit, yogurt, cold cuts and, of course, coffee for breakfast. We were then off to meet up with our city tour guide to learn a bit about the (little dry, but informative) history of Paris.
Afterwards, the bus carried us out to the town of Versailles to visit the palace. Luckily, we were able to grab some lunch before our tour. It was an absolutely gorgeous day to be out walking the gardens after touring the palace.
Our guide, Guillaume, arranged a delicious dinner of Beef Burgundy and sliced potatoes followed with mille-feuille.
We finished the night with a trip to the art district of Montmartre for a visit to the Sacre Coeur basilica and a little souvenir shopping. We also had to throw in some obligatory gelato and crepes! Not a bad way to spend a day 😁

Day 1 in Paris. Between the usual congestion and a Congolese demonstration, traffic was an absolute mess, but we made the most of our time with a quick walking tour. Dinner was a delicious pork loin and potatoes followed by apple pie. We even had time to play some games at the hotel since it doesn't get dark until 10pm.
