Put on your dancing shoes and get ready to cut a rug 👠👞⁠

Older adults (age 50+) are invited to dance with us at the 50 and Better Dance on Tuesday, July 23 at Luepke Center. Music provided by Sheldon Wong and the Bad Motor Scooter Band 🛵🎼⁠

Registration before the event costs $10 for residents and $12 for non-residents. Tickets purchased at the door are $15. Pre-registration is highly encouraged to get the best ticket price!⁠

This week, join us at Nikkei Neighborhood Park for a showing of Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax (PG). Arrive at 7 p.m. to explore pre-movie activities provided by Stormwater Partners SW Washington. Movie begins when the sun goes down (around 9:30 p.m.) 📽️⁠

All movies are closed-captioned. Food and refreshments are available for purchase from local vendors or bring a picnic to enjoy. Lawn chairs or outdoor blankets are encouraged as seating is not provided. Alcohol is not permitted in parks.⁠

Grab your family and friends and join us this Thursday, July 25, for another fun night of pickleball for all ages!⁠

Pre-registration is required. Participants will register individually and by court (1-6). Please coordinate with your friends and family to ensure your party signs up for the same court. Only 4 players may play on a court at a time. If your party has 5-6 players that share a court, registration must be done over the phone or in person at Firstenburg Community Center.⁠

Firstenburg members play for free. Non-members pay $7 for residents and $8 for non-residents. ⁠

What to Bring: A paddle (limited supplies available for checkout), tennis shoes and a positive attitude!⁠

With the help of individuals such as Don, Coleen, Atlas, Wendy, Jody, Gayle and all the others not pictured here, we can provide a range of social and recreational clubs exclusively for older adults in our community at just $2 per session. ⁠

Are you interested in volunteering to start a new club at the Firstenburg Community Center for ages 50+? Please contact Jana Wilson at [email protected] or call 360-487-7025.⁠
Some possible club ideas include cribbage, Mexican train dominoes, book club, writing club, poetry and whatever else you can dream up!⁠

Watch the winning videos from the Students for Clean Water Video Contest this Friday, July 19 at Nikkei Park! The five winning videos will be played prior to the City of Vancouver's Free Friday Night Movie which has a very fitting main feature - Dr. Seuss's The Lorax! We will have a tent with kids activities - stop and say hello!
We'll also be giving a big thanks to our sponsors including Consor, MacKay Sposito, Northwest Watersheds, Olsen Environmental, Otak, Fourth Plain Forward , IUrban Teen, Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership, Q***r Youth Resource Center, and The Watershed Alliance of SW WA! Due to extremely dry conditions, Vancouver Fire Marshal Heidi Scarpelli has issued a total ban on recreational burning effective at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, for the city of Vancouver.

Prohibited fires:
🔥 Recreational fires and bonfires
🔥 Campfires
🔥 Fires in outdoor fireplaces, fire pits and chimney-type devices

While the recreational burn ban is in place, all fires will be illegal within the city limits. Those who violate the recreational burn ban may be subject to a $500 fine, which may include criminal penalties.
