The schooner Stephen Taber is fully booked this summer for its cruises along the coast of Maine. But its captain says he's had to raise prices to keep up with inflation, and members of his crew find themselves living aboard the ship because of high housing costs. NBC News' Christine Romans reports.

Sometimes, even when you’re talking about yourself, you just have to admit when you’re looking good.

Here we are, off to adventure.

Chef Grey gives a quick summary of all the Duck Doings done in preparation for the season.

He’s off sailing now on the season’s first trip!

There are some spots in August still up for grabs. Check the schedule and get ready for a wonderful (and darn tasty) time!

Meet Chef Grey Litaker!

How do you really make someone “get it” when you’re talking about great chefs?

One way is to name drop.

Let’s try it - “Chef James Tranchemontagne.”

Now you’re listening, I bet.

Maybe because you’re not sure if we pronounced his name right.

How about this? - it’s easier to pronounce - The Frog & Turtle Gastro pub of Westbrook, ME.

Chef James, owner of the gastro pub, Frog & Turtle, sails with us JUNE 13th to the 17th.

He will cook for us all. He will discuss techniques. He will divulge his inspirations. He will share his passion for housemade charcuterie.

This trip is fantastic. This trip has quite limited availability. This news is a gift.

Join us for this excursion of elevated comfort food and classic bistro fare.

If you were on an island, what would you…

Us, we’d have a lobster bake.

And we do.

Every time.

As much as BBQ season is May to October, the best way to do it is to let someone else do it - and you show up for the Eat part.

Here’s good news.

That’s kind of our jam -

AND -

We do it on a beach, with a lobster bake.

Here’s even more good news.

We feast under sail too.

In fact, we’re complete foodies.

Every meal, every dessert, every charcuterie board - is perfectly excessive.

With Maine as the backdrop, and an 1871 schooner as our ride, it’s makes for a special way to vacation.

It’s an art. There’s a science to it.

It’s a dairy tableau of flavorful fireworks.

It’s dramatic. It’s cheesy (so cheesy).

It’s savory and inevitable.

It’s orchestral. It’s complicated. It’s simply delicious.

It’s a collaboration twixt Captain Noah & .

It happens regularly despite being impossible.

You won’t believe it. You’ll swear by it.

It’s over the top. It’s never enough.

It’s not dinner. It’s not dessert. It feels like both and twice of each.

Another sign of Spring -

The Ship’s Store is blooming!

You can (finally) get hats, hoodies, sweatshirts, Tees, Long sleeves tees, Women’s Tees, tank tops -

And

Organic French Terry Hoodies.

Oddly, they do not come with Grey Poupon,

But they sure is fancy nice.

Where’s the best place to see the Eiffel Tower from?

Not from the Eiffel Tower, we know that much.

The same is true of our wonderful schooner. The only time we are jealous of other schooners, is when they send us pictures of US from THEIR schooners.

What a view. Isn’t she a beauty?

📸

18/04/2024

Sure, we make it look easy, but when it’s that’s much fun, there’s not much room for the “work” of it - we luv doing it!

You know what you need to learn this summer?

How to do it.

How to summer.

We have weekly “classes.”

They’ve already had the Cherry Blossom Festival in DC.

Meanwhile, snow, mushy snow and deep snow is on the menu in Maine.

Summer’s coming.

In its own sweet time.

We know what the Pizzel we’re doing.

Any one day of our trips would be enough -

sailing the coast of Maine,

aboard an 1871 schooner,

eating lavishly,

napping lazily,

schooning gracefully,

Visiting islands,

Exploring towns.

Now wake up, and do it all again.

And again.

🎥

Spring snow today.

Is it just, or are the lyrics a bit insane?

“I want to wash my hands, my face and hair with snoooooow.”

We like snow. Not THAT much but, in Maine it’s normal to get a few last puffs of snow before April.

🎥

21/03/2024

As Spring slowly unravels -

it’s going to snow this weekend -

it’s good to have something to look forward to for the summer.

Maybe suggest a foodie frolic along the Maine coast?

We’re being totally objective when we say you’ll experience the best of Maine.
