On September 19, 2023, Star 24 Hour Towing and Star Body Works, together with the National Auto Body Council and Allstate Insurance, hosted its first Electric Vehicle Extrication Training Class for First Responders throughout Southern Oregon at The Expo. Genesis Rescue Systems demonstrated the latest equipment available for first responders to use in emergency situations. Rescue Agencies came from as far as Roseburg to attend the training exercises.

Star Collision Centers Inc’s Co-Owner, Arthur Lamensdorf said, “The Star Family prides itself on hosting events such as these that help get the latest and newest automotive information in the hands of First Responders. The automotive industry is constantly changing and trying to make vehicles safer for driver’s, so hopefully this was just the inaugural event for us.”

Captain Derek Matchett with the Jacksonville Fire department said of the event, "Thank you to Star Towing and Allstate for providing an opportunity to gather different agencies from the local area to collaborate on the unique hazards found on EV vehicles. There are always challenges posed when trying to perform vehicle extrication effectively and efficiently not only for the safety of the passengers but also for the first responders. Having the opportunity to review such unique systems is a benefit for everyone involved during a motor vehicle collision."

Vehicles were donated by Allstate Insurance and Star 24 Hour Towing.

Coffee for the event was donated by Dutch Bros and Wesco Automotive Paint Specialties helped provide lunch for all the first responders.
