Hope you are getting out on the water in this beautiful spring weather.

This summer is quickly approaching and many folks have asked about the sojourn this year. As it is often posted and registration is up by this point.

As many of you know several years ago the Juniata Clean Water Partnership (JCWP) no-longer had the state funding to stay operational. Ultimately this meant the potential end to the sojourn that so many of you have come to make a tradition.

Over the last few years our staff has worked to keep the tradition of the sojourn alive. Unfortunately without the funding from the state coupled with our desire to keep the sojourn an affordable excursion with many of the same amenities it has become difficult to host.

Currently plans are underway for a 2017 sojourn that will follow a new itinerary in hopes to keep costs in check while increasing the fun factor.

We will keep you posted through page updates as well as email correspondence.

Gee whiz- Monday night on this years sojourn ought to be a real hoot- open house at Rothrock Outfitters, Live Music at Boxer's Cafe, and informational walk and talk through historical downtown Huntingdon, Pennsylvania

The Annual Juniata River Sojourn registration is live!

Note some changes-
1- In an effort to allow boaters to paddle the right boat for the conditions we have decided to pull the Little Juniata Section out and offer it as a separate Fall Sojourn! That's right two sojourns each year. And because the Little. Juniata River is such a treat we'll do it every year!

2- Camping in Huntingdon, Pennsylvaniathis year will allow for us to experience the downtown district. So Monday night Rothrock Outfitters will host an open house with snacks and than attendees will get meal vouchers for Original Italian Pizza (OIP) Downtown Huntingdon, PA or Boxer's Cafe. With live music afterward!

3- At the Portage around the Warrior Ridge Dam and Hydroelectric Plant we will provide boat moving assistance should you choose to accept it.

4- Next Years Sojourn will finish in Duncannon and be a full six days of paddling!

This year sixty-five individuals paddled the length of Raystown Lake. Putting in below Weavers Falls Bridge and paddling to Snyders Run Boat Launch. While winds and waves battered boats much of Sunday, the calm waters and rare power boat wake made Monday a wonderful last day on the water.

Thanks to all that came out- Hopefully despite, the quick overhaul of the entire trip, sometimes strenuous paddling, and slight confusion, you were still able to enjoy a safe and scenic weekend paddling. We've all made a few more friends and have seen much more of Lake Raystown than we might have expected.

Hope to see at least a few photos galleries shared.

Friday Night after the meet and greet we will have the wonderful Debra Dunkle of the Mid State Trail Association, offering a presentation on the Bloody Run and Everett Borough Names.

Some stuff you might want to know: Doan's Bones Barbecue will be doing the dinners for the trip with wonderful options both Saturday and Sunday evenings (because you need to bring your own Breakfast and Lunches.

The The Nick Miller Project will be playing live Saturday night w/ Celina Seftas of Huntingdon County Beautiful speaking on watershed conservation Sunday night! Each morning we have trash bags and gloves available for those wishing to partake in daily riverbank clean-ups.
