Public information meeting set April 12 as Hwy 57 Mantorville project readies for construction

MANTORVILLE, Minn. – The public is invited to attend an in-person information meeting on Friday, April 12 in Mantorville to learn more about the Highway 57 reconstruction project, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

The meeting will be 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Friday, April 12 at the Dodge County Government Services Building, 721 North Main Street, Mantorville, MN. Attendees should use the entrance on the south side of the building to access Conference Room B. People may arrive at any time to learn about the project, ask questions and sign up for updates. No formal presentation is planned.

MnDOT invites and encourages participation by all. If you need an ASL, foreign language interpreter, or other reasonable accommodation, or need documents in an alternative format (such as braille or large print), please email your request to Janet Miller at [email protected] or call 651-366-4720.

Project details
Construction is expected to begin April 15 and finish late-summer. Prime contractor Elcor Construction will reconstruct Highway 57 from the South Branch Middle Fork Zumbro bridge to 9th Street in Mantorville. Work also includes replacing stormwater pipes and upgrading pedestrian and bike facilities.

During construction, a detour will be in place to route traffic around the project. Motorists should use County Road 12, County Road 9 and County Road 16.

Dodge County 4-H will have a booth at the Dodge County Expo this year. This event is located at Triton High School in Dodge Center on Saturday, March 23rd. Adult and youth volunteers are needed to lead an activity at our booth and talk to businesses about how they can support 4-H. Please sign up by March 13th on the Expo sign-up form. My wife Rosie and I attended the Minnesota Law Enforcement Memorial Association (LEMA) Annual Business Meeting/Banquet this past weekend in Hastings. I was honored to be re-elected to serve another term on their board of directors. It was also great to see the impact the LEMA License Plates have made on this organization. LEMA has always been funded by donations. This bill never would have happened without the help of now retired Senator Dave Senjem and our own Roger Berge and all their work to help get this bill passed.

Some years the LEMA funds were so low that board members would pitch in to pay for stuff. The License Plate bill has taken some of the stress off the finances and has allowed us to continue to help with some important funerals like Burnsville, and Pope County last year, along with several other off duty death funerals, retired officer funerals, etc. Funds also allow us to do events throughout the year for Minnesota's Survivor Families so they know their sacrifice will never be forgotten - Christmas events, shop with a cop, MN Sports events, Police Week, etc.

If you would like to help support the Minnesota Law Enforcement Memorial Association (LEMA) and all they do for our fallen heroes and their families, just ask for the LEMA license plate next time you renew your tabs for your vehicle. It's an extra $25 to get the plate, and then each year $5 of your fee goes to LEMA to help support their events.

Having this plate on your vehicles not only helps support LEMA, but it also shows your local law enforcement that you appreciate them!
