“The clearest way into the universe is through a forest wilderness.” -John Muir

Acadia has a lot of trails. There are over 150 miles of hiking trails throughout the park. With so many options, it can often be hard to figure out which one to visit. Each of Acadia’s trails are unique as some go beside the ocean, others travel up mountains and even a few visit tide pools. Most of the park’s trails are rocky and the difficulty level can vary widely from one to the next. The best way to plan ahead is to look on the park website for information about hiking trails. The website gives detailed information about each trail and categorizes them by their environment, type of route, or location. For more information, visit https://www.nps.gov/acad/planyourvisit/hiking.htm

We can't wait for you to see our upcoming exhibition, "Every Leaf & Twig: Andrew Wyeth's Botanical Imagination." Throughout the show, the cycles of nature manifest in stunning depictions—such as of a lonely thistle plant or a cache of white starflowers. As Farnsworth Chief Curator Jaime DeSimone said, “Andrew Wyeth created more than 11,000 works in his astonishing, seven-decade career, yet only a fraction of these have ever been exhibited." We feel incredibly lucky to be able to showcase these new works thanks to our new partnership with the Brandywine Museum of Art and the Wyeth Foundation for American Art. Plan your visit and learn more about this unique exhibition: https://bit.ly/45yasE9

"I always like to drive around Schoodic Point at sunset and during storms because it creates the most dramatic lighting on all the stone. When working on my undergraduate degree, I became very interested in geology, and now I work in a granite quarry. Acadia is a great place to appreciate the geologic formation of this area. You can witness evidence of a mini-continent named Avalonia that collided with the North American continent 450 million years ago, which later caused magma to cool into the beautiful pink granites I like to photograph today. I feel minuscule among the prevailing forces of nature here, and it feels special to capture a bit of it on my camera."
