Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Inc. Given to any disaster victim. Our long term goal is for relationships to be made with those being helped, and to bring the lost to Christ.

Provide victims of major US disasters with prepacked boxes of food, personal hygiene, & infant care items, new clothing, cleaning supplies, water, all paid for by Church of Christ congregations & individual members. Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Effort, Inc., monitors all media avenues watching for major natural disasters in the United States and US Territories that have displaced victims fro

m their homes. When we have confirmation of a natural disaster, we begin calling Church of Christ congregations in the area of the disaster and other local agencies to find out the extent of the damage. If the damage is to the point where over 100 families are displaced, we ask local Church of Christ congregations if they are willing to receive a truckload of pre-packed supplies, ready to distribute. If the local church is willing to go to work to help those in need, and to build relationships with the disaster victims, we will send the supplies. In areas where a Church of Christ is not present, we contact congregations in nearby communities, to see if they would be willing to work in another community to distribute supplies to those affected. . Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Effort stands prepared with a warehouse of supplies, packed, ready to load on a truck and have on the road within hours. We do not send or coordinate volunteers to do the work, we only send supplies. Initially we send prepacked family food boxes, personal care boxes, infant care boxes, cleaning buckets, along with pallets of: bottled water, diapers, laundry detergent, bleach, new clothing and shoes, along with bundles of mops, rakes, shovels, and brooms, and other cleaning supplies. We turn these supplies over to the leadership of the local Church of Christ we are working with, for them to distribute to all disaster victims. We are a source of supplies that have been paid for by Church of Christ congregations and members from across the nation. so the local congregation can get to work, doing what the Lord told His church to do.. Later on, when peoples homes are rebuilt, or refurbished, and families are getting back into their homes or another place to live, we can purchase new beds, appliances, and other household furniture from vendors, and have it shipped directly from the manufacturer to the congregation working with victims. The Beds, appliances and furniture are for qualified victims without insurance or those under-insured, or with high deductibles, with a low family income. We only replace some of the items lost because of the disaster, and limit a family to one room of furniture, one appliance (possibly two), enough mattress sets to sleep an average family of 4, and a new 40 gal water heater. Here again, to replace items they already had, that were lost. We want to be good stewards of the Lords money that we receive from those that support us, so we ask local members of the church doing the work, to visit victims homes, to verify these items were requested by and provided to only disaster victims, and these items were lost due to the disaster.

Ken Lowry, our Associate Director for the Southeast, has been in contact with congregations across south Florida, Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Pompano Beach, and Naples. So far, there is extensive street flooding but minimal impact on homes. There are no requests for assistance at this time, but everyone is watching as torrential rains continue. If we receive requests for help, we will post them here.

This morning, May 31st, a 4th shipment of supplies was unloaded by the church members of the Southside church in Rogers, AR, so they can continue to help all of the families affected in northwestern Arkansas by tornadoes earlier this week.

Also, on Monday morning, June 3rd, a shipment of supplies will be unloaded for distribution at the Saturn Road Church of Christ in Garland, Texas, to help families in that area also hit by tornadoes.

Within the hour, a 53' trailer full of supplies will leave our Nashville warehouse for the Valley View Church of Christ, in Valley View, TX. At least 7 were killed and 100 injured when an EF-2 ( now updated to an EF-3) tornado went through Cooke County Texas Saturday night, and through the community of Valley View. There was so much damage that a lot of search and rescue needed to take place before they received in supplies, but they requested our supplies to be delivered at the Valley View church building, Thursday morning.

Also, the 3rd truckload of supplies has been requested by the Southside Church of Christ in Rogers, AR. That shipment will also leave our warehouse this afternoon.

Please continue to pray for all of the families affected.

Around the same time the supplies were delivered in Rogers, AR yesterday morning, they contacted us back, this morning, saying they had distributed a lot of the supplies they'd received 24 hours earlier, and are in need of more food, tarps, personal hygiene, infant care, mops, brooms, rakes, shovels, sheets, pillows, and clothing, so additional families in need can come get the supplies they need, that we already have packed and ready to send!

So a second truck of supplies headed to the Southside church in Rogers left our warehouse at 4 today to be unloaded tomorrow morning at the church building.

We most likely will be sending another shipment of supplies out tomorrow to a different location. When we get the word from church leaders that they are ready for us to send them, we will let you know post it here.

We've had storms, strong winds, and hail in middle Tennessee this afternoon, and they have now moved east of us.

We are aware of tornadoes reported in Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, North Dakota, and North Carolina. 7 were killed on the Texas/ Oklahoma border. We are trying to get in touch with these communities to find out the extent of the damage, while more storms are expected later today.

Please pray for those in the path of these storms.

Yesterday afternoon, Tuesday, May 21st, 14 tornadoes touched down across Iowa. One causing extensive damage, and taking one life as of this afternoon, was an EF-3 tornado hitting the small community of Greenfield, Iowa, that has a population just over 2,000.
There is not a Church of Christ meeting in Greenfield, so our Associate Director covering Iowa, Dennis McClintock, reached out to the Creston Church of Christ, located about 23 miles away to see if they would help in Greenfield, if we could find a place to work out of. The leaders of the Creston church agreed, and said in fact that some of their members that had lost everything lived in Greenfield.
With no local building for us to use, Dennis reached out to the City officials to see if their was a still standing empty store, or a school that the Creston church could use as a distribution center. It wasn't long and the city replied back to Dennis that they Nodaway Valley High School there in Greenfield could be used.

This afternoon, just before 4pm, a 53' trailer full of boxes of food, personal hygiene boxes, infant care boxes, pallets of drinking water, cleaning supplies, pillows, blankets, sheet sets, The supplies will be unloaded at the High School building tomorrow, so they can be distributed to the families affected by the tornado.

Please be praying for the community of Greenfield, and for all of those families affected by this tornado. If we have requests in Iowa for additional aid in other communities, we will let you know.

Tomorrow morning,Friday, 5/10, another shipment of supplies will leave our Nashville warehouse, this shipment is going to help the flood victims in Liberty, Texas. The members of the Liberty Church of Christ will unload the supplies at their church building Saturday morning about 9am.

We are aware of all the storms from Alabama, through Tennessee, and across into North Carolina last evening (5/8/24), we will be speaking with contacts to see how much damage occurred after the tornadoes, large hail, and heavy rains that caused flooding. Many rescues by boat have already taken place. We will let you know here when we send additional help.

Pray for those affected by last nights storms, and especially those families that lost loved ones.

This morning two truckloads of supplies from our Nashville warehouse were received and distributed in areas devastated by major disasters.

One shipment was unloaded at the Livingston Church of Christ to help flood victims in and around Livingston, Texas.

Also this morning, a shipment of supplies was unloaded at the Barnsdall Community Center in Barnsdall, Oklahoma. There is not a Church of Christ in Barnsdall, but other nearby congregations stepped in to help unload and distribute these supplies to those affected by the EF-4 tornado that hit Barnsdall Monday night. The Legacy Church of Christ in Bartlesville took responsibility for receiving these supplies, and setting up a distribution center to help those in the Barnsdall area.

Thank you for your prayers for all of these families, and for this work. We appreciate your support.

If you are retired and have an active Class A CDL License, live in or near Nashville, and would consider driving one of our tractors pulling a 53' trailer to a disaster area, to drop off a shipment of much needed basic supplies for families that have possibly just lost their homes from a major disaster,...we could use your help. All of our drivers are volunteers, but we pay for your fuel and expenses while you are driving for us.
We know that some still driving full-time for a company might have some free time to drive for someone else, but that limits when you're available to drive for us. As we all know, disasters don't wait on anybody, and those affected need help ASAP. If you'd like to help us help others in their time of need, give us a call, so we can talk about it. 615-833-0888

Thanks for all you do for Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Effort!

If you live in the Nashville area, and aren't busy this Thursday (5/9/24) at 10am, and don't have any problems being on your feet a couple of hours, we could use your help packing family food boxes at our warehouse at 410 Allied Dr. We will pack 1,500 of them, but it usually takes a couple of hours. When you're finished, we'll provide lunch, and then you are free to go. Usually everyone is gone by 1pm.

Hope to see you just before 10am Thursday!

Two deaths were reported in Holdenville, OK, and 1 death was reported in Marietta. 22 tornadoes were confirmed in the Norman, OK area.

A 53' trailer full of supplies left our Nashville warehouse this morning, headed to Waterloo, Nebraska, to help those affected in the Elkhorn neighborhood, on the west side of Omaha. The shipment of supplies is being unloaded and overseen by the Harvest Field Church of Christ in Omaha, and they are using an empty building offered for them to use at the Trinity Classical Academy 800 N Front St, in Waterloo, NE, as a receiving and distribution center. The supplies should be unloading around 9am tomorrow (Tuesday Apr 30)morning.

On Wednesday morning, the first shipment of supplies will be unloading at the Vinita Ave Church of Christ building in Sulphur, Oklahoma, to help the tornado survivors in that area.

Tomorrow morning at 9am a shipment of basic needed supplies will be unloaded at the Kirbyville Church of Christ in Kirbyville, TX.
Last week Kirbyville received a lot of rain, some areas 12 inches. There were a number of families rescued by boats. Livestock also had to be rescued, and the West Greenlawn Cemetary in Kirbyville reported caskets that had been unearthed, and were floating in the water! This week the water has receded enough to where roads are re-opened, and people can get back to their homes. They are in clean-up mode, but people lost a lot of household goods because they had to get out quickly.
We hope these supplies, along with your prayers help these families get back on their feet.

Yesterday evening a large storm front moved across Texas, Louisiana, and into Mississippi. The region was hit with a lot of rain, causing rivers and creeks to reach flood stage. In Slidell, Louisiana, 500-700 families have received damage, and the Slidell Church of Christ lost roofs off of two of their buildings. Households lost trees, carports, lawn furniture, and anything else in the path of this storm that at one point had winds clocked at 120 mph. Even though the Slidell church lost their roof and other parts of the building was heavily damaged, the Eldership saw this as an opportunity to reach out into their community and to be a “light set on a hill” during these dark and difficult times. Because of their willingness, they have agreed to receive a truckload of food, cleaning supplies, and other needed items tomorrow morning, April 12th at 9am. Pray for their outreach efforts in that community as well as for their recovery efforts of their building.

05/04/2024

We have another shipment of supplies loaded, and it will leave Nashville later this evening, headed to the National Road Church of Christ in Wheeling, WV.

Members of the church will unload it at their building tomorrow morning.

Please pray for all of those in these flood areas.

Early this morning one of our semi-tractors pulling a 53' trailer pulled into the parking lot of the Belpre Church of Christ parking lot in Belpre, OH. The trailer load of supplies will be unloaded by church members this morning, to be distributed to anyone in the area affected by the flooding that took place because of the many storms throughout the area earlier in the week, causing heavy rains. Dwane Casteel, our Associate Director covering Ohio, has been busy the last several days trying to contact congregations along the Ohio River in the Flood warning areas to see if we have any more requests for help.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support!

Shipment of Supplies headed to Wi******er, Indiana

This evening, March 18, a semi-trailer full of Food, personal hygiene, infant care, cleaning supplies, water, laundry detergent, bleach, new shoes, will depart our Nashville warehouse, headed to Wi******er, IN, to be unloaded by the Wi******er church members tomorrow morning at 9am. Since the Wi******er Church of Christ building was destroyed by the tornado, Rudolph County is allowing the church to use the Randolph County Fairgrounds building at 1885 S US HWY 27, in Wi******er as a location to receive these supplies, and to use as a distribution center, to help families affected by last week`s tornadoes. We appreciate Randolph County allowing the church to use this building as a distribution center to help families affected by the storms.

We are also working on a location to send additional supplies to help Selma, Indiana. We will update you here!

16/03/2024

We have been working to get in touch with those areas affected by last nights tornadoes today.

We are in touch with the preacher of the Wi******er Church of Christ in Wi******er, Indiana. That area was hit by an EF-3 tornado last evening, March 14, and the Wi******er church building was destroyed. As you might imagine, the area is in shock. We are going to see if there is another building, or empty store in Wi******er, where the church could unload the supplies we can supply them with, and use it as a distribution center.

It could take some time to get things all setup, but we will update you here as we work to help those in need.

Please be praying for the families in Wi******er and the other areas hit last night in Indiana, Ohio, Kansas, Illinois, and Texas.

Wildfire in Texas Panhandle

Our Associate Director responsible for Texas, Brian Spicer, was in touch with the preacher of the Canadian Church of Christ when he first heard about the wildfire that started in Hutchinson County in the Texas panhandle. The Smokehouse Creek fire has now grown to be the largest fire in Texas history. As of today, Feb 29th, 5 wildfires in the panhandle had burned over a million acres.

We have also been in touch with congregations in Borger and Fritch, TX At least a hundred homes have burned in Fritch. At this point they do not want us to bring our supplies. So many with good hearts, wanting to help, have taken things that they've gone out and picked up, but now these communities are inundated with a lot of things, but they don't really know what they have, or have what they still need.

We deliver a truckload of the supplies they need. We have been doing this work for 30 years, and know what is needed after different types of disasters. We have these items already in our warehouse, already packed and staged, so they can be loaded on a semi-trailer in 1 hour, and taken to the disaster area. These prepacked goods are ready to be handed to a family. For example, we send 300 prepacked family food boxes on a trailer, each box will feed an average family of 4 about a week. Each of these family food boxes is packed with exactly the same contents, same size cans, same labels. We also send prepacked personal hygiene boxes, infant care boxes and extra diapers, cleaning supplies, water, new clothing, new shoes. Everything we send is labeled, and ready to be handed out, nobody needs to go through it to see what they have, we give them a list of what they're getting. We send new clothing, so no one needs to go through used clothes, the church can hand someone new items. When someone in need goes to the distribution location, they don't need to go in and hunt for what they need, they will be asked what they need, and it will be handed to them. Very efficient, and 100s can be helped in a short amount of time..

Early this morning a semi truck pulling a 53' trailer full of supplies left our Nashville warehouse, headed to Canadian, TX. The supplies will be unloaded Friday morning by members of the Canadian church at the Canadian Exhibition Center, which they will use as a distribution center to help those families affected. They will be getting the word out on local Radio and TV stations, about their location, and hours of operation.

We pray the firefighters will be able to contain these fires, and for the families whose homes have burned!

The 3rd semi-trailer full of water was unloaded at the Twin City Church of Christ in W. Helena, AR this morning at 8:30 (Feb 1, 24). It had all been distributed to families in need by 1pm!

27/01/2024

A 2nd semi-trailer full of water was requested and delivered this morning (1/27/24) to the Twin City Church of Christ in West Helena, AR.

The full truckload was distributed to those in need, in just a few hours.

We all pray that the water supply issues are resolved for all of the communities whose water systems were damaged, or quit working as needed, during the extended freezing temperatures across the country.

23/01/2024

The second shipment of water is on its way to the School Ave Church of Christ in Mountain View, Arkansas.

Plus the first shipment of water will be headed to the Twin City Church of Christ in West Helena, Arkansas tomorrow.

Please be praying for these communities without fresh water, and for the water department workers putting in a lot of hours trying to get them back online!

20/01/2024

We were contacted today by the Erin Church of Christ in Erin, TN. They also are having issues with the water supply for Erin.
A truckload of 19 pallets of bottled drinking water, or 912 cases, will be be delivered at the Erin church building, to be unloaded by church members tomorrow morning (Saturday Jan 20th), for families in need.

18/01/2024

Our Story

Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Effort, Inc., monitors all media avenues watching for major natural disasters in the United States that have displaced victims from their homes. When we have confirmation of a major natural disaster, we begin calling Church of Christ congregations in the area of the disaster, along with other local agencies to find out the extent of the damage. We ask local Church of Christ congregations if they are willing to receive a truckload of prepackaged, ready to distribute supplies to help those affected by the disaster in their area. If the local church is willing to go to work helping others in the community affected by the disaster, we will send a 53’ trailer full of basic supplies needed by the disaster survivors. Our long term goal is to bring the lost to Christ, so we hope that relationships can be built with these new neighbors they’re helping, but they may have never met. In areas where a Church of Christ is not located, we contact nearby congregations to see if they would be willing to work to distribute the supplies we provide in another community.

Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Effort stands prepared with a warehouse of supplies, packed, organized, and ready to be loaded on a trailer to have on the road within hours. We do not send or coordinate volunteers to do the work, we only send supplies, and the members of the local church do the work. Initially we send prepacked family food boxes, personal care boxes, infant care boxes, cleaning buckets, along with pallets of bottled water, diapers, laundry detergent, bleach, new clothing and shoes, bundles of mops, rakes, shovels, brooms, and other cleaning supplies. We turn these supplies over to the leadership of the local Church of Christ in the disaster area for them to distribute to all disaster survivors regardless of faith, ethnicity, race or background. We are a source of supplies so that the local congregation can to go to work doing what the Lord told His church to do. Later on, when people are getting back into their homes or a place to live, we can also help with mattress sets, appliances and new household furniture. These items ship directly from the manufacturer to the congregation working with victims. The beds, appliances and furniture are for qualified victims who did not have insurance to cover the items lost, with a family income of $30,000 or less. We limit a family to one room of furniture, one appliance (possibly two), and mattress sets to sleep an average family of 4 people. We want to be good stewards of the Lords money we receive from those who support us. We ask local members to visit victims’ homes to verify that the items requested are going to replace similar items which were actually lost due to the disaster.
