As so often happens to me in Paris, a gate opens and I enter a secret courtyard. Here, in a delightful space in Montmartre, I looked around and was charmed. And then I cast my gaze a little farther, and this is what I saw. Whether you dream of going to Paris or have been many times, I will show you a Paris you've never seen and help you understand how Paris came to be Paris. February 18–22, 2025; April 14–18, 2025; November 4–8, 2025.

It snowed today in Paris, but it was more bark than bite. A perfect day to spend contemplating a bloody, complicated year in French history. And musing over things like Robespierre’s portefeuille, Jean-Paul Marat’s mortuary mask and mandible, and the oxymoron of a guillotine blade’s humane death.

L'escalier ou L'homme à la valise, an arresting street art mural by artist Fabio Rieti. He had this to say about street art: "It's mainly to arouse interest and provoke discussion. Many young people walk around with a tablet in their hand and no longer have any connection with the urban landscape. It's a new and dangerous thing, which ends up locking us into a virtual life instead of a material one. In this respect, the city should be seen as one big apartment, made for everyone, for anyone." This resonates on so many levels. It is Paris: real, vibrant, astonishing, alive. Come experience that Paris with me. No lines, no crowds, just us and this magnificent city. February 18–22, 2025; April 14–18, 2025; fall 2025 TBA.

Paris—there are the highlights, no explanation needed. And then there are the lo-lights, as in local. All those things everyone says they want to experience but never quite know where or how. Experiencing local Paris, like a local. That's my expertise. So, what are you waiting for?

About her experience with me, one client said, "You do make magic happen." Which prompted this memory: When I was a child, foxtails were my magic wands. From the top of a slide on a backyard playset in the twilight of summer evenings, while a chorus of crickets sang, I waved my wand over an imaginary domain, creating magic. I still create magic, though it takes both imagination and hard work. And the domain is Paris. Come with me and experience magic.

In the opening ceremony of the Olympics, there were lots of references to French history. But depending on where and how you watched, they were largely unannounced and thus easy to miss. Take the Olympic cauldron in the spectacular finale. The nod was to the Montgolfier brothers who launched the first hot-air balloon in the late 18th century. So notable was this in aviation history that the word for hot-air balloon entered the French lexicon as une montgolfière. Then there is the significance of the site of les Tuileries. Six months after the Montgolfier feat, the first hydrogen balloon went aloft from the grounds in front of where the Palais des Tuileries once stood. Very close to the spot where, 241 years later, the Paris 2024 Olympic cauldron rose into the air! But what about the plaque in the photo? Now that's an off script story! By the late 1780s, balloon aviation had gone from hot-air to hydrogen, from tethered to untethered, from unmanned to manned. What was left? On October 22, 1797, André-Jacques Garnerin made history by descending in a basket attached to a frameless parachute that he'd invented, borne aloft by a balloon!

Our Story

Paris Off Script is a travel boutique that guides small groups of five women for five days to undiscovered-treasure destinations in Paris. Our all-inclusive trips are designed to experience Paris through cultural engagement rather than tourism. Showing you Paris as you’ve never seen it before, each trip reflects the belief that travel is less about seeing the sites and more about exploring the idea of what it means to live a satisfying life. We stroll the city to discover big moments in small things, slowing down to be astonished. We enjoy the opportunity to see things with fresh eyes, forging new connections with ideas, with other people, with ourselves.

Paris Off Script collaborates with local people in food, wine, cheese, chocolate, and the arts to show you the Parisian’s Paris. Creative, inspiring, relaxing, fun, and unique, this is Paris insolite (unusual), off script.

Get your ticket. Pack a bag. I do everything else.
