I posted this picture and message one year ago. And hopefully I’ll post this same one again next year! It’s the same island, the same beach and the same wonderful vacation that I return to.

The island of Folegandros has been on my radar since I read an article in the NYTimes in Sept 2015. The author had been visiting the island for seven years with a group of women. They found the small island in the Cyclades by searching online for ‘fabulous sunsets in Greece.”

Her description of the charming family-run boutique hotel has stuck with me and continues to be near the top of my list of places to stay.

The pace starts to slow down as they leave Bangkok and head to in Phuket and then in Koh Samui for more relaxation and water based activities 🏝️

Tucked up on the steep slopes of the Taygetus mountains is the medieval fortified city of Mystras. The well-preserved Byzantine city was built in 1249. The steep climb up to the palace provided incredible views, though the pictures can’t really capture it. You’ll have to power up the worn cobblestone steps yourself!

Sunset in Santorini.
The glow from the sunset is magical on the white and blue of the town of Oia.
The glow is also no secret so be prepared to struggle to find a spot to take a photo! I was surprised by the number of people in mid October, squished on steps and in alleyways, trying to have a clear view of the sun sinking in the sea.
It’s worth seeing and then escaping down an alley for a quiet dinner. We had a delicious dinner

Golden hour , a stunning, spacious resort in the village of Mesaria on the Greek island of Santorini.
You can reach the hustle & bustle of the town of Fira in about five minutes. We did that this morning for a few hours and I couldn’t wait to escape the heat and people and get back to the tranquility of NOŪS Santorini.
I swam lengths in the gorgeous 50m pool, sipped my afternoon coffee by my private pool and am about to head to Oia for wine tasting and the sunset.

September is a great month to ride your bike, either on a trip or in your own neighbourhood!

I hadn’t been enjoying biking as much lately…too much traffic, fear of unclipping in time and a big hill to climb to finish my ride.

So I bought an e-bike and ditched the clips! Riding my bike is fun again. And I have a little boost to get up the hill to get home. No shame in asking for a little help🚴‍♂️!
