My Story
Welcome to DiVersions! di·ver·sion, diˈvərZHən, noun 1. an instance of turning something aside from its course. 2. an activity that diverts the mind from tedious or serious concerns; a recreation or pastime. DiVersions Travel Adventures, LLC specializes in Boutique Travel Consulting providing Bespoke Itineraries and Es**rted Small Group Excursions to La Bella Italia for every budget. We also provide authentic Italian/Sicilian Cooking Classes celebrating the wonderful regional dishes of Italy as well Artisanal Cheese-Making classes (fresh mozzarella, ricotta and burrata). Why I wish to share Italy's intrinsic beauty with you... I am a proud first generation Italo-Americana who genuinely wants to enrich others’ lives by providing a real opportunity to travel to my family’s homeland. My love for discovering and sharing Italy began at five years old, during my first trip to meet my incredible famiglia Italiana. That love has grown more passionate with every Italian adventure and passing year. That first trip spanned 3 months time and the geography from the majestic Italian Alps to the warm Sicilian Islands. I was enveloped in the culture, tradition, history, art and the beauty of Italy and her people. Returning home with a new sense of family, and speaking both the Sicilian dialect and a bit of Dante's Italian, I was "bitten" by Italian Wanderlust. There was no looking back. I wanted to possess a strong command of the Italian language, after all, Sicilian was my first language heard at home. I began my studies in High School and was honored with academic awards & scholarships and was voted the school’s first "Miss Italy"... that still makes me laugh! At Rutgers University I was fortunate to take advantage of the opportunity to Study Abroad my Junior year and be matriculated as a student at both the Università degli Studi di Firenze as well as the Università di Urbino. That year was truly magical! I received degrees in Italian and Psychology from Rutgers University, studied Art History and knew that a consistent personal cultural exchange with Italy was a life imperative. So, this was the plan: Return to Italy for a year or two before returning to Graduate School. First step: work within the travel industry for an airline after graduation allowing the ability to earn strong American $'s while enjoying travel benefits to set up my life in Italy. Well, I never imagined meeting my future husband at that job! Second step...never happened.
So I am living at the Jersey Shore with my amazing husband and three beautiful children. Italy has been significant to us all, and a constant in our lives. We have enjoyed many trips there together, with friends, with family, and as my kids grew, they too studied and traveled there independently. We have all been "bitten".
After continuing on with Business Graduate Courses and holding a variety of extremely rewarding positions during my career in Small Business Development, I am now fortunate to own my entrepreneurial (ad)venture!
This is what I know, this is what I love, this is what I want to share.
