As you get ready to enjoy the spooky fun, remember to stay safe! Here are a few tips to help you and your family have a frightfully good time:

👀 Watch for Traffic: Trick-or-treaters, be sure to stay on sidewalks and cross streets at corners. Drivers, please be extra cautious of little ghouls and goblins!

🕯️ Light Up the Night: Carry glow sticks or flashlights to make sure you’re seen while out and about.

🍬 Check Your Treats: Parents, remember to inspect all candy before letting the kids indulge!

There are some fun and frightful Halloween events happening around the county! Whether you're trick-or-treating or heading to a local fall festival, Wythe County Department of Emergency Services reminds you to stay safe this Halloween!

Reminder: Safety first!

✔️ Inspect candy before eating

FEMA Representatives will be set up at Art at the Crossroads and Apple Atcha Fest on Main Street in Downtown Wytheville on Saturday, October 19 from 10AM-6PM to assist residents with the Disaster Assistance application process.

As we all know, our annual Apple Atcha Festival, sponsored by the Wythe-Bland Foundation, is this weekend. Our festival not only celebrates Appalachian culture but is meant to be a gathering place, a community hub, where we support each other and our culture.

To support our community, we have decided to make Apple Atcha Festival 2024 a free community engagement weekend full of events that support and honor our culture. In light of the devastating effects of Hurricane Helene, we decided to make this change to truly support our community and make our festival accessible to all.

Donated goods will still be accepted for Open Door Cafe from now until the festival concludes.

These are the items most needed:
Non-perishable canned goods
Shelf stable milk
Baby formula
Baby wipes
Diapers
Toiletries
Pet food/items
Cleaning supplies

If you have purchased a ticket to our festival, you may either receive a refund or we will donate the sales to United Way of Southwest Virginia which is working with storm-affected localities to distribute funds.

We are and we encourage everyone to come out and take part in our Apple Atcha Festival to celebrate our culture and the strength of our community.

The Millwald Theatre is partnering with Open Door Cafe in accepting donations for the tropical storm relief in conjunction with Apple Atcha Fest (Sponsored by the Wythe Bland Foundation). We will be accepting donations from now until the festival concludes! These are the items most-needed:
