Happy National Nut Day!!

Did you know? Oregon is the only state with an official state nut: the hazelnut! Oregon grows 99% of the entire U.S. commercial crop of hazelnuts, so it's no surprise that the state chose to honor this delicious and nutritious nut. In the fall, hazelnut trees in Oregon produce a bounty of nuts, which are then harvested and processed. Many Oregon farms and businesses offer hazelnut-themed products and experiences during the fall season, such as hazelnut picking, tours of hazelnut groves, and hazelnut-themed food and drinks.

So, if you're looking for a fun and tasty way to enjoy the fall season in Oregon, be sure to check out the state's official nut, the hazelnut!

Did you know that an amazing local artist designed the original Wildwood Adventures branding and logo? 😍

Today, Erik Ebeling is a renown painter and sculptor, who has been featured in Fine Art Connoisseur Magazine two years in a row. He has been a finalist in numerous prestigious competitions, including the Salmagundi Club Library Portrait Competition and the National Sculpture Society Annual Awards Exhibition, for the last three years in a row! This week, his sculpture Janus will be on display at the London Art Biennale 2023!!

We have recently come to discover that one of our Tour Guides, David Heil, is a very talented photographer!

David's interest in photography dates back to his days of capturing and producing black and white photos for his high school yearbook!  

He has lived in Oregon for 20 years and he enjoys exploring and photographing the natural wonders of Oregon while camping in his Chevy Suburban. 

He started as a Wildwood Adventures Tour Guide in 2022 and has been able to capture many stunning photos of the various places we visit on our tours!

Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful moms out there! 💐

Today, we want to take a moment to honor and thank all the amazing women who have raised us, supported us, and loved us unconditionally.

Mothering comes in many different forms, and we want to acknowledge and honor them all. To those who are biological mothers, adoptive mothers, foster mothers, stepmothers, grandmothers, aunts, sisters, friends, and all those who have stepped up to mother in any way, we thank you for the love and support you provide.

To all the moms out there, we want to say thank you. Thank you for all the sacrifices you've made, the love you've given, and the wisdom you've shared. We wouldn't be who we are today without you. Happy Mother's Day!

We also want to recognize that Mother's Day can be a difficult day for those who have lost their mothers, those who are estranged from their mothers, or those who have experienced other challenges related to motherhood. Our hearts are with you, and we hope that you feel supported and loved.

May is National Mental Health Awareness Month. Forest Bathing or Forest Therapy is one practice we can personally vouch for. Spending time in nature can improve your physical and mental health by reducing the effects of stress on your body.

Studies have shown that forest bathing could reduce blood pressure, lower cortisol levels and improve concentration and memory.

We have an abundance of forestry here in the Pacific Northwest, in every direction! The most important thing is to find a natural environment that resonates with you and allows you to connect with nature on a deeper level.

Today is World Simpsons Day! And if you didn’t already know, we’re here to inform you on why that’s relevant to Portland, Oregon!

Matt Groening, the creator of The Simpsons, is from the PNW. His hometown, the long debated city of Springfield (which is apparently the most common city name in America) has been confirmed by the creator himself, to be our very own Springfield, Oregon.

As you wander around Portland, you’ll find many locations and streets names that were direct inspirations for the show: Flanders, Quimby, Lovejoy, Evergreen Terrace, Burnside… the list goes on!
