A Legend

This 9 ft-tall statue made of bronze and stainless steel, depicts the mythical Kópakonan (The Seal Wife). She is located in Mikladalur Harbor of the Faroe Islands in Denmark. The sculpture was unveiled in August 2014, crafted by artist Hans Pauli Olsen it serves as a tribute to the selkie legends prevalent in this region. The myths about the Seal Wife, are deeply rooted in Faroese folklore. The legend describes selkies as humans who have chosen the sea over landlubber life, transforming into seals. According to myth, on the Twelfth Night of the new year, Kópakonan could shed their seal skins to assume human form, and revel in earthly pleasures for a short time.

We are elemental beings, associates of the blue cold depths.

Travelers, searching for and spreading the lights of this world, floating along, aboard a technophilic hunk. We seek not security over opportunity, we are uncommon travelers as it is our right. Whilst blazing paths, one rarely has time to ponder, fit in, or actually get used to...well, anything. I guess that’s why we hold so precious the time we spend with each new experience & connection. Exploring the most out of reach, under the grid, beautifully dirty, and colorfully confusing segments of this world.

Follow our ventures out, fining down towards vertigo inducing depths, swirling deeper into its currents to find where up meets down. Join in as we look into the darkest inhospitable caves for their unseen beauty. Ondines’ mates maintain fortitude to ride life’s thrashing storms and forevermore seek out that one last spectacular sunset.
