Our Story
Guess what? I am back like a bad penny, just over here customizing our dream business. Sometimes you have to make adjustments in order to be happy with the end result, just like anything and everything in life you will never know unless you try. If owning a business was easy and enjoyable all the time, everyone would be doing it. Truth be told the first attempt was rather rushed and suffocating at times.
In 2012 we opened Chestnut Street Kitchens/CSK Cheesecakes. The opportunity arose in May a week after David's dad passed. David's dad Dwayne had owed Dwayne's Design and while the family was trying to figure out what to do with the business Dwayne's family knew I had always talked about "someday" opening a cheesecake bar. It was a leap of faith! If there ever was a good opportunity this was it and we dove in. A month later in June my dad was diagnosed with advanced stages of cancer. We opened August 20th and on August 23rd my dad passed away. So while it was a great opportunity, it probably wasn't the most ideal time or situation.
Most people have a business plans, maybe save money and have that passion for opening a new business before they embark on such a journey, we had a wish, a prayer and very supportive friends and family. While CSK was successful and there were a lot of things I enjoyed (meeting new people and making new friends) the negative out weighted the positive in the end.
I often feel like Dwayne had a hand in my business adventure and just like CSK was meant to be the opportunity to sell presented itself. With that decision I gained a great friend and the opportunity to customize my dream business while making it more enjoyable for me.
I needed to remove myself from the situation, change it or accept it. The decision to sell CSK wasn't a rushed or impulsive move and I would like to think everything in life happens just the way they should.
In August of 2016 David put a licensed kitchen in our house and we purchased an old 1960'2 mini wini travel trailer that needed a bit of love and affection. I since then I have taken orders that people have placed and made desserts for a restaurant in town, but my sole intention since then was to one day become a mobile bakery that specialized in cheesecakes AND now macarons AND would bringpeopleANDingredientstogetherANDmore!
