Just checked into the McKinley Chalet here in Denali, Alaska. The Ridge View Building is the newest section of the resort. We have 2 nights here and will be going s Tundra Wilderness Tour tomorrow morning. Can't wait!

Dawson City was a step back in time... Gold Rush time. Notice all the streets are dirt roads except the main road that goes thru the town. This was one the large city north of Seattle and west of Toronto in its heyday. Last evening we took an amazing tour to Top of the Dome which overlooks the Klondike Region. You can see an active mine, then the Bonanza Valley just to the right where gold was first discovered. Then it pans over to the Yukon River, Dawson City, and Top of the World Hwy across the river which takes you to Alaska. Dawson City was a great experience in this tour. Oh, and even though there technically is a sunset (almost 1am), it never really got dark. Lol

Tommy Taylor took us on a boat tour on the Yukon River. He took us onto the island his family has owned for generations. And we caught a local legend, Caveman Bill, canoeing across the river back to the cave he has lived in for 27 or 28 years... year round!

We left Skagway by train yesterday. Such beautiful scenery going thru the White Pass Summit! Then we switched to motorcoach to continue on to Whitehorse, Yukon, for the night. We were up and out early for our 8-hour journey to Dawson City, Yukon, an old gold rush town. Captured a nice little bear video today on the way. Looking forward to exploring this area tomorrow on our leisure day. Sunset tonight -12:45am. Sunrise tomorrow - 3:50am!

It was a drippy day in Juneau, but that didn't stop us from checking out Mendenhall Glacier. It has been 18 years since I visited it so it was worth the trip. This morning we are in Skagway and will take the train into the Yukon and stay in Whitehorse tonight. Let the adventure begin!

Attended a very informative class this morning put on by our Holland America (HAL) reps. HAL has been going to Alaska for 77 years and because of that longevity, they almost always dock right in the towns, whereas other ships may have to tender or use a further pier and be bussed into town. Always learning something new... and sharing with you!

Just passed this Hurtigruten ship, Ronald Amundsen, in the bay outside Vancouver. It seems to just be sitting there. That ship goes to Antarctica!

Attended a Switzerland workshop yesterday where I got to meet with 15 different Swiss suppliers from tourism boards to hotel sales directors to train reps and more. This really made me hungry to go back to Switzerland. I really only got a small taste last time. Public transportation is the way to go. Having a Swiss Rail Pass with all the different trains, gondolas, buses, and all the extras you get like museums and attractions discounted, you will never lack for activities or opportunities to admire the beauty of Switzerland. Anybody want to go with me??

In Rotorua, New Zealand, you will find Whakarewarewa, a living Maori village. I actually visited this in 2018 - super interesting place with active steam vents all throughout the village. They had thermal pools and ovens for cooking and after eating our Hangi meal, they put on a Maori show for us. This is a real working family village and would add real meaning to a visit to New Zealand.

What a special trip for this father and daughters! They spent 9 days exploring Italy - Venice, Florence, Tuscany, Rome...and they even squeezed in a day to experience the villages of Cinque Terre. It was a whirlwind trip, but they made memories that they will treasure forever.

Interesting story: Marriott Hotels started as a 9-seat A&W root beer stand in 1927. Since then, they have become a corporation of over 30 brands from budget to luxury to longer stays. Who knew?!

I love the Royal Kona Resort. I stayed there last summer. It's in a great location, within walking distance of many wonderful restaurants and the shops of Kona-town. Is it time for a visit to the paradise of the Big Island of Hawaii??
PS...I used to live there so I provide my clients with recommendations and itinerary suggestions.
