Bandit Springs Trails Weekend July 7 - 9, 2023 10-20-30 mile loops in the gorgeous Ochoco mountains. Much of the trail is single track with some old dirt roads. There's some native rock.

Foot protection is suggested but we've had barefooters, too. You're likely to see some elk, antelope and wild horses and some of the prettiest country in Oregon.

2023 DIRECTIONS to BANDIT SPRINGS!
From the east end of Prineville at the last gas station at the stop light at the intersection with Combs Flat Road, proceed 29 miles on Hwy 26. Turn right on Forest Road 2630 a quarter mile after Mile Post 48. A sign reads “Marks Creek Sno-Park Crystal Sprs Org Camp”. We have placed a sign that reads “AERC Ride” and the Mustangs To The Rescue directional sign.
There is a bathroom at this intersection after you make the turn if you’re in need - TP status unknown.
Proceed up Road 2630 for less than 2 miles. It is a decent gravel road, but you’ll want to travel slowly, especially across the two cattle guards. (We've been filling the holes but the road is far from excellent.) You will turn right into our camp at a well-marked intersection with a "Ride Camp" sign and another Mustangs To The Rescue directional sign. It's a big camp and we're expecting a lot of people - park thoughtfully and carefully so even more riders can fit in easily. Check in at the ride office promptly and please stay clear of the well-marked Vet Area. Take a moment to check out our raffles and information about adoptable horses. Veterinary & medical personnel and horse water available in camp, drinks and snacks on the trail. The grass is shoulder high on the horses and the trails are beautifully cleared.
Be part of the magic.

Hey all! The above link, I think, will lead you to Ride with GPS. I believe ALL the loops are correct. I didn't have time to add water but there IS water on the trail. So far, the entries are coming in rather slowly. Please send your entry in soon. The pre-entries will shut down on July 3rd. Also, where are all the signups for the 100? I had several folks asking for it so we're holding it...and only ONE person is signed up!

Also, by demand, we will be holding a 12 mile Ride and Tie on SUNDAY!

AND, we will have a potluck on both Saturday and Sunday.

Adam and I are headed up to ride camp tomorrow. There is NO service at ride camp but if you have questions that just can't wait or need to communicate for whatever reason, text is advised because we do have limited signal on the trail.

See ya all soon!

I understand that the GPS coordinates are wrong on the flyer. Ack! I will endeavor to get the correct ones up post haste!

The info to the website and such on AERC's website has been updated and I've asked for the website on PNER to be updated.

Thank you all for the patience. I'm already a little rummy apparently!

Trail & Endurance each day

11/12/2022

This is Linda Conrad, I’m the president of MTTR’s board of directors. Today marks the 10th anniversary of MTTR becoming a 501(c)(3) non-profit in Central Oregon. I want to invite you to help us celebrate.

First, thanks to our amazing village. We continue to exist and provide support to horses and the people who care about them because of all of YOU. We remain entirely volunteer run, relying on our outstanding crew to do everything from scooping p**p to fundraising to helping out at events to making horse head wreaths and corkies to running the entire organization.
We have THE BEST crew around.

We appreciate your financial support. Our funding comes from annual events, fundraisers, and the kindness of those who wish to donate to us. Your gifts keep the lights on and the horses fed and cared for. We feel profound gratitude to you all, every day.

On this anniversary, I want to talk about the founder of MTTR, Kate Beardsley. If you live in Central Oregon and have any kind of involvement with horses, chances are you have crossed paths with Kate in one way or another. Perhaps you know her from OET. Or the Backcountry Horsemen. Maybe you hired her to train your horses, maybe they spent time in “Camp Kate,” going on packing trips with her. Maybe you’ve had a situation with a down horse and she brought her immense Technical Large Animal Emergency Rescue skills to assist. You may have attended one of our endurance rides, or needed guidance when you knew of a horse in need and didn’t know what to do. Kate gets called in all of these instances. And she always responds.

The woman is incredible. I know better than most just how much she does each day, and I have to wonder sometimes if she somehow has access to additional hours. I don’t know about y’all, but I get exhausted just hearing about all she does. She is the driving force behind MTTR.

As we celebrate ten years of MTTR's existence and role in our horse community, let's also celebrate Kate. Tell me your stories in the comments. I can’t wait to read them.

If you’d like to help us continue to grow and thrive in the years ahead, here’s how you can:

*Wanna join our crew? Email: [email protected]
*To donate: https://mustangstotherescue.networkforgood.com/projects/148494-everyday-giving-campaign
NEW MONTHLY DONORS will have their funds matched through the end of 2023!
*Interested in joining us on the board? Email me: [email protected]
*There’s still time to order your horse head wreath for 2022, email: [email protected] Orders taken through December 15!

Thanks to all of you for being part of our village. We can’t do this without all of YOU.

Now tell me those Kate tales! You know you have at least one!
