Regardless of where you live, work or play, knowing how to stay safe in today’s world must be taught! This is simply a subject that can no longer be ignored.
Knowing how to stay safe in a dangerous world is a “learned behavior” that must be taught & practiced!
This news (5 years after the murder) is a horrific reminder of the evil people that prey on young women throughout our country. The fact that this killer has not faced any real justice, simply encourages predators “that getting away with murder may be a reality.”
Fortunately, our mission at The Vigilance Group does not evolve around the judicial system, but rather on ways to reduce, and hopefully prevent, an innocent coed from being attacked. Our goal is to honor previous young victims by sharing their stories in hopes of protecting others from a similar fate. We are honest in our training workshops, as we discuss ways to identify danger and how to effectively respond in order to escape and survive. Changing each person’s mindset from being a helpless victim, to one that knows how to survive, is the greatest gift anyone could share with a friend or loved one!

This video was made 10-12 years ago, as the Vigilance Group was defining our mission statement. It was never about one individual, but rather, about the collective knowledge and tactical experience that so many of my military partners brought to our training workshops! The greatest battle that you can ever win….is the one you never have to fight! Our strength is teaching others how to have the mindset of a lion, through knowledge, preparation and practice! We simply strongly believe the ancient proverb:
“It’s better to be a warrior in a garden, than a gardener in a war”.
The Vigilance Group has visited and completed Security Assessments and training for dozens of schools over the years. However, today at SPS I was blown away by the positive security procedures and physical improvements this little Catholic school has made in the past 12 months! Great leadership, with a staff ready & willing to find ways to improve their security is the key to success!
Every year when we visit this little school to provide training, I learn a new safety procedure and/or improvement that I can share with other educators! Today was especially rewarding! Thanks Sister Veronica Marie for bringing us back! 🙏✝️
