The Cusco Cathedral in the main Plaza de Armas is one of Cusco's architectural beauties.
This cathedral is officially named Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption of the Virgin, but known locally as the Cusco Cathedral due to it's massive size and central location. The Spanish used the Incas to build this place and most of the religious buildings across Peru, however, the Incas were made to use Spanish building techniques instead of their own. Because of this, many Spanish-built structures have fallen to earthquakes in the past and have had to be rebuilt, including this cathedral. Inca stonework on the other hand has remained strong for thousands of years.

Today in places like Chinchero, Peru's weaving capital, local artisans use natural plants to dye their materials. From there, they weave patterns they've memorized and learned from their elders. Some elders work with techniques practiced earlier than 500 AD, though it is quite rare to come across them.
