Update 12:18PM - Finally fixed and departing for campus
======
Update 11:52PM - Bad tire off - new tire being installed
======
Update 11:33PM - We spoke to Campus Police and Safe Rides. If Ubers are not available once the bus returns to campus, a combination of Safe Rides and Campus Police will be helping students get back to their dorms and apartments.
======
Update 11:24PM - Repair Truck has arrived
======
Update 1100PM - Central dispatch confirmed the change in the repair vehicle's arrival was due to their prior roadside fix taking longer than anticipated. 11:45PM is the correct updated time.
In parallel we have escalated the request for the replacement bus (again) regardless of what the repair company says, indicating they should have done this in the first place and we have asked that to move now in parallel.
======
Update:1042PM - To answer the question Why they have not sent a replacement bus: When a fix will take more than 2 hours they will send a replacement. The original ETA was 2 hours meaning a fix would be faster. An additional problem is that today, most drivers have already been on duty for their maximum allowed time (Sunday after Thanksgiving is the busiest travel day of the year) so finding an available driver is very difficult. However we continue to push for that in parallel with the repair truck.
======
Update:1030PM - We had asked for new equipment when the bus first got the flat tire. The lack of available drivers was the issue and the time Bridgestone (tire repair partner) was supposed to arrive would be much earlier. We have again asked they begin the process to roll another vehicle while we also escalate within Bridgestone to find out why they changed their arrival time.
======
Update 10:11PM - The repair truck has not arrived yet. We are pushing for an update and direct line to the repair truck for an ETA as the driver and dispatch are getting conflicting information from the repair team.
======
Charlotte Bus Update: Repair truck is already on the way to the rest-stop where the bus is located in VA. We expect them to arrive by 10pm, replace the tire and then the bus will depart for Virginia Tech.
While rare, tires do blowout when hitting potholes. We're thankful Academy Bus has a large network to support this issue. While we do not like delays, our priority is the safety of the students.
