The sun is peeking out from behind the rain clouds. We are definitely thankful for the refreshing rain. Now it is time to come out to the Delafield Farmers Market and try your sample of almond butter or pecan butter. My personal favorite of these two is the pecan butter, especially on a delicious slice of apple. A great way to have a healthy snack that delights the tastebuds! And it is gluten free too!

Gardens of Grace is back at the Delafield Farmers Market for July and August. We are getting ready to move to Madison later this summer, but we are excited to be back at the market for a few weeks! Come out and say hi!

Throughout all the pandemic, I have not had difficulty in getting the ingredients needed for all of the soaked and sprouted foods we produce here in the garden. We might be entering a new chapter of challenges. A number of the ingredients I use come from a local organic bulk foods distributor. That distributor is so short on employees in their warehouse that they are unable to fill orders for their customers. There are drivers to deliver orders, but there are not enough workers to fill the orders. As a result, the distributor is going to fill only a percentage of every customer's order. The customer doesn't have a choice in what items are filled. And now the shortages begin.

I have been able to connect directly with a farmer to purchase almonds and walnuts, and I have been purchasing from him directly for several years. I purchase both my raw honey and my pure maple syrup directly from the producers. I am trying to connect with an organic pecan farmer currently. Unfortunately, there are a number of ingredients I use that I will not be able to source directly from a farmer. I have spent the better part of the morning trying to find more reliable sources for our other ingredients.

It is more important now than it has probably ever been to support our health with the best, most nutrient dense foods we can. That is our passion here in the garden, and I hope this new challenge will not disrupt our ability to provide those same delicious, nutrient-dense foods to all of our amazing customers both online and in person.

I wish you could smell the wonderful aroma that has filled our house from the new batch of banana muffin cereal I started dehydrating this morning. Our furnace hasn’t worked since Christmas, so there is no air blowing around. But the delicious smell has filled our house anyway. 🤤 😋 YUM!
