There is clear evidence that Black patients experience racism in healthcare settings. In childbirth, mothers are treated differently and given different access to interventions. Black infants are more likely to survive if their doctors are Black.

An analysis of two million births in California, the first research of its size to include both race and income, shows the best medical care for mothers and babies is not equally accessible to everyone.
