You know what… I’m not even going to take credit for today. I had a crazy idea to find the most remote place, for the most adventurous of groups.. with the best driver in the business and went for it.
I could never have imagined it working out this well.

Golden beaches, rugged coasts… and sunshine. The many layers of an intriguing section of coastline.
Co Clare is passed by many, yet it’s a region that deserves so much more.
The Burren - such a fascinating place. Artic plants in bloom right beside Mediterranean plants in pure harmony. A landscape carved out by retreating glaciers, revealing a complex story in its wake.
A culinary paradise, with passionate ambassadors like Burren Smokehouse, bringing the delights of the Atlantic to your table.

The Burren Ecotourism group consists of more than 60 local enterprises committed to sustainable tourism in the Burren. It’s easy to see why Lonely Planet awarded the group with the Best Community Tourism Project in their awards.

First day with a new group is always such a buzz, especially when your friends at Scattery Island Tours open up a whole private island especially for your group. I’m so grateful to get to do what I do. 🙏
I promised to take this adventurous group to parts of the country that they’d never even imagined, and I’d like to think we succeeded. Ok, granted… the weather played a small part in this too😜.
Best time to visit Ireland? Right now.
Best company to help you plan it?… need I say more😉

What a joy to have been part of Claddagh Mhor Pipe Band at representing Portland, Maine. Many months in the making and such a rewarding experience for all. The sun came out right as we got going and it was such an incredible day for parade participants, guests and attendees alike.
Huge congratulations too to the band members for picking up the best musical act in the parade too🏆☘️🫶🏻. So deserved and it was great to see them all enjoy it so much. So grateful🙏🏼

Getting the celebrations of to a great start as Claddagh Mhor Pipe Band get set for a few amazing days of fun and merriment for St Patrick’s week.
So far Guinness and Whiskey seem to be key elements on finding their creative space… I think they found the right guy to make sure it all comes off as planned! Getting a little help with the weather so far too ☀️☘️

The drive from Valentia to West Cork isn't one I'd put on many itineraries. It involves a lot of driving with many brilliant distractions. But with a driver and guide to keep you on track, the impossible becomes a great way to explore.
We passed through many charming villages and towns, along with a wide range of coastal scenery and mountain passes. We didn't know where to look. A stop in Bantry for a mouth-watering lunch before a breath-taking hike in one of the country's most remote places (and windiest)
Oh, and a visit with the coastguard to learn firsthand about the challenges of working this dangerous stretch of water. Definitely not a stop on any ol tour!
The warm welcome in one of the most charming hotels in the country was very well deserved.

To the untrained eye, putting Di**le so early in an itinerary yesterday could be risky. But I knew if the weather cooperated we’d be able to land an absolute doozy today. The weather indeed cooperated☀️.
Today was a designed in such a way that guests were able to pick their own adventure, a logistical challenge, but it all came off pretty perfectly with a little help from the local community.
I’ve always said, to attempt to do the Ring of Kerry in a day, means cutting out some spectacular hidden gems. Great to spend a night on an island tonight and support a small town that really doesn’t get the credit it deserves.
Informed risks are nearly always worth it, when it comes to travel… even group travel.

Great to welcome back the Irish American Club of Maine to Ireland.
They hit the ground running and looked for the best in every place they visited (even after little to no sleep on the flight here).
They learned about historic moments in aviation, an iconic Hollywood superstar, not to mention experienced the best Irish coffee in the land.
They connected so sweetly and genuinely to the cast of characters that North Kerry had on offer, (and even understood most of what they were saying!)
After an amazing dinner they were spent. In that special cocktail of jet lagged excitement, new experiences, great food and a cozy bed kinda way😴😴😴
Next stop… Di**le.

Catching up here, but we got to spend St Patrick's Day in Limerick, and what a day it was. We also scored a prime viewing spot to watch it all happen. Such a huge effort was put in by local volunteers, sports teams, and the local Ukrainians were all proud to represent.
No matter where you are around the country, you'll be treated to a sense of local pride. You'll learn quickly that it's a different sort of day in most parts of Ireland. More of a family affair... not that you'd be deprived of a few pints and a little music, of course.🍻🤪

Great to be back in Ireland for and checking out a few potential stops for a future literary tour. Visiting National Print Museum, Archbishop Marsh's Library and Museum of Literature Ireland. I didn’t mean to get utterly lost in it all.
Whirling in the foundation of words and the timelessness of thought.
To sit in library chairs that once cradled the bu******ks of Joyce, Swift and Stoker.
I learned.
Not solely of solitude or brave thought.
But of the importance of type and typography.
It turns out some words would last forever.
Or nearly forever.
Or be forbidden. Since forgiven.
Millenniums travelled.
Books that bore bullet holes from centenaries.
Words rest with me tonight.
