The world's tallest thermometer is located in Southern California's Mojave Desert. You can see it along the interstate. Willis Herron spent $750,000 in 1991 to have this built next to his restaurant. It weighs 76,812 lbs. and stands 134 feet tall. It is capable of displaying a maximum temperature of 134 degrees Fahrenheit!

In Murphy, North Carolina at the Cherokee County Historical Museum are the Moon-eyed people. They are two creatures, three feet tall and carved from a block of soapstone centuries ago. They are conjoined like siamese twins, with dish like faces, no arms and round eyes too big for their heads. Legends of the Cherokee, a race of cypto-humans that were blinded by daylight but able to see in the moonlight, so they only came out at night. They were light-skinned and had blue eyes. They lived in what is now western North Carolina centuries ago.

What to do if you forget something on an airplane...

1) Return to the gate and speak with an agent. Ask them to check with the cleaning crew on the plane to see if they've found it.
2) Get help at your connecting gate. Have them call to your previous gate to check in.
3) If you've left the gate area, head to the baggage claim where you can fill out a claim ticket and ask the baggage claim rep to call your gate.
4) If you've left the airport, call the airline's baggage department to see if it's been reported.
5) Call the airline to file a missing item report.
6) Tag the airline and airport on social media to encourage them to look for the item.
