Songwriter Announcement and Spotlight! 🎶

Irene Kelley

When Irene Kelley left her native Pennsylvania to move to Nashville in 1984, she brought along her guitar, a handful of original material and a love for traditional and bluegrass music. She was signed to MCA Nashville’s country division and was adamant about having Carl Jackson, Sam Bush, Mark O'Connor and other bluegrass musicians join her on her first recording project. As she puts it, “The record was country, but the heart and soul was bluegrass.” This was at a time when bluegrass instrumentation had fallen out of favor along Nashville’s Music Row, so Irene concentrated on the songwriting that exposed her music to millions through hits like “A Little Bluer Than That,” for Alan Jackson, as well as songs performed and recorded by Ricky Skaggs & Sharon White, Loretta Lynn and Trisha Yearwood. More than three decades later, Irene has assumed her place in a long line of great American songwriters.

Of her musical influences, she says: “Jean Ritchie’s songwriting to me was so amazing, especially for someone just learning to write. Some of my other early favorites were Hazel Dickens and Alice Gerrard, Rodney Crowell, Pete Goble, Greg Allman and, of course, always Dolly Parton and Loretta Lynn.”

Songwriter Announcement and Spotlight! 🎶

Erik Stucky is a internationally touring producer, songwriter, and instrumentalist.
Growing up in the rugged mountains of western Colorado, Erik Stucky picked up his first mandolin at the age of 8. Following the release of his debut album Stray Clouds in 2017, Stucky packed up his instruments and a single suitcase and pointed his pickup for Nashville.

Influenced heavily by New Grass Revival and Lyle Lovett, the Americana artist proved his ability to cross genres from Country, to Soul, to Jazz, all the while maintaining an unmistakable writing style and voice with his sophomore album, Good Vibrations (2021). Performing on the mandolin and guitar, Stucky combines his passion for lyric writing, folk instrumentation, and big band arrangements.

The mandolin player known for his easy listening voice and lyrics (think Jack Johnson or Jason Mraz) has held stages across the United States and Europe and been featured on Today in Nashville, RFD-TV, Nashville Entertainment Weekly, The Cowboy Channel, The Bluegrass Situation, and many other media outlets. His music has been also praised by Roots Music Report, M Music & Musicians Magazine, and CMA, AMA, and ACM award-winner Crystal Gayle.

When he’s not writing or playing music, Stucky enjoys exploring the outdoors, reading, practicing martial arts, hunting, and eating great food.

Rogers Mesa Highway 92 Reconstruction Project Update for the Week of February 24th
---------------------------------------------------

Temporary signals have been installed at the shoofly detour around one of the culverts between Mile Point 15-16. The signals will be in place for several weeks at this location while the construction continues on the culvert. A shoofly is a temporary road that allows traffic to flow around a construction zone.

The team will be conducting potholing operations on the east end of the work zone. Single lane closures will be needed to perform this operation.

Crews continue tree removal and pipe installation between Mile Point 15-16 in both the eastbound and westbound direction.

Open trenching continues for the culvert repairs.

Alternating single lane traffic under flagger control will be implemented throughout the work zone and delays are expected during peak commuter times.

Traffic Impacts

Motorists should expect delays through the work zone. There will be one lane alternating traffic during the majority of the project and shoulder closures as needed and periodic traffic stops in order to move equipment.

During inclement weather, project engineers will assess the roadway and work location to make determinations on work continuing depending on safety concerns for workers and commuters.

Working hours are Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-5 p.m. and subject to change in the spring.
