September 7th is International Manatee Day!😎🌴☀️🤗

International Manatee Day was designed to raise awareness about the conservation of manatees worldwide. This day recognizes the work that has been done by so many people that work tirelessly to protect manatees through education and research.

Today we celebrate these incredible animals that are our co-workers. At Fun2Dive we have the absolute privilege to swim with manatees and educate our guests about all things manatees and our eco-system.

If you're looking for a great way to spend some time on the water 💦🤿 and be introduced to these incredible animals, call Fun2Dive 352-228-2279. Or go to our website at Www.fun2dive.com. We have some availability for this coming up week and want to help mark this off your bucket list 🪣

💥Manatee Monday Fun Facts!💥

Female manatees usually have one calf every two to five years and the calf then stays and nurses for two years. Calves nurse from their mother’s teats, which are found right where the forward limbs meet the body. The calves also can start nibbling on plants at only a few weeks old. Calves will gain about a pound a day in its first year.

Come join us and our incredible team at Fun2Dive for an adventure in Kings Bay. 💦😎🤿

You can call us to make a reservation at 352-228-2279 or by going to our website at www.fun2dive.com

It is incredible to see manatees eating plants and grass out 🍀🍃🌿of the water 💦💦during high tides. This manatee was more interested in lunch 😋🥗on the shoreline than the eel grass!

These photos 📸📸 were taken this morning on a tour with our in-water guide Crystal. Manatees have hearty appetite eating close to 10% of their body weight everyday.

If you are looking for a get away and want to come to see the Sunshine State and Manatees, now is the time! Residential manatees stay in our bay year round and we get to have the incredible experience of swimming with them everyday of the year.

Have you ever heard a manatee eat? It sounds like this manatee is enjoying lunch on some easter grass! 🍴🍃 There is an incredible amount of easter grass that manatees have been feasting on since the eel grass in the area is still growing back. However, The eel grass in the area is growing back amazing. We have seen some areas where it is 5 to 6 inches!! 🤗

On our recent tours we have been seeing manatees on the grass flats eating. Now that it is warmer, we won't see manatees in springs. We will see them living their best lives and eating most of the day. Manatees eat about 10% of their body weight each and every day!!💪🤗🥬

Get your family out and enjoy this beautiful weather 😊 and of course these incredible animals. 🤿🤗💦☀️

It is a TERRIFIC TUESDAY to go swimming with manatees!! 🤗🤿🫶The small cold front that came through has some manatees in the springs this morning.

Manatee Fun Fact of the Day: Manatees communicate with all of their senses: 🔊👅👂👀 taste, touch, smell, sight, and sound. They have live hairs all over their bodies called vibrissae. They have a larger number of vibrissae on their faces. They have small eyes that close like an aperture of a camera. Their vision is pretty poor and they can only see a few feet away. Their ears are small holes on the side of their heads. Manatees do communicate with each other by squeaks made; mostly heard between mom and calves.

This is an incredible, wildlife adventure! Bring your family on a fun spring break excursion.

It is our favorite day of the week! It is Manatee Monday! 🫶😎🤗🤿

We are getting close to the end of manatee season and it has been such a great year! The migratory manatees are making their way to the intercoastal waters in search of food and warmer waters. During this time of year we will typically find residential manatees eating on the grass flats. 🍃🌿 This winter has been pretty cold for us in this area and for the manatees. 🥶❄️The cold requires manatees to stay huddled in the springs for their survival from the cold. Then once it warms up, manatees are able to move freely around the bay and out to the Gulf. Manatees are an average of 900 lbs to 1300lbs and eat about 10% of their body weight each day. While they are huddled in springs, they are unable to eat and basically go into what is like a hibernation period. Now they are in go mode to find food and be happy, healthy manatees. The grass in Kings Bay was affected by the hurricane Idalia that came through last year. It killed the grass that was established and so they have to go further out towards the Gulf to seek food. Fortunately, the grass is GROWING again in the bay and it starting to poke through.

The water that the manatees are eating in will not be in the springs, in that crystal clear water like Three Sisters. We want our guests to be aware of our current conditions and what to expect. The water clarity is affected by tide changes and water traffic as well. We are still going out and having an incredible time with our guests. It would be rare to not swim with at least one manatee any time you go out. Our dedicated staff will work hard to be sure everyone is able to see these incredible animals.

We look forward to taking you on this wildlife experience and being able to enjoy this beautiful, true Florida adventure. Be on the look out while on tour for turtles, birds, fish and all other kinds of beautiful animals. 🐢🐠🐟🤿🐦🐦‍⬛

This week we are doing an 🌟Employee Spotlight🌟 on our in-water guide, Kaylee!

Kaylee has been working with Fun2Dive for about 2 years as an in-water guide. She has a passion of being able to show guests the incredible area that we live in and of course, the manatees. She loves being able to spend time with her friends and family when she is off. She is going to be welcoming her own little tot in January and we couldn't be more excited for her and Dylan!!

☎️Call to schedule a tour with Fun2Dive and request Kaylee! She is an awesome wildlife photographer and guide. It is certain that you will have a great time and will no doubt laugh at her "dad jokes" 🤿📸🤗

It has been a month since hurricane Idalia hit the coast of Citrus County. While we were spared the direct hit, it did leave its presence behind. When the salt water surged into our bay it cause the water in our area to be stirred up and it affected the clarity of the water. On our tours recently, we are still seeing the impact of the changes in the water visibility. Even with the clarity change, these wildlife tours are still exciting and unforgettable. Being able to swim with these majestic animals is such an incredible adventure. We are open and ready for guests to join us on our tours and have this once in a life time experience.

I have attached some great photos from our recent tours
