We now have Tropical Storm Helene currently in the Northwestern Caribbean and will likely enter the Gulf of Mexico sometime in the next 24 hours. It is on track to reach hurricane strength and make landfall as potentially a major hurricane by Thursday in the Big Bend area of Florida. For us here in Mississippi, the cold front moving in will help to prevent Helene from bringing impacts to us. Cool and dry weather is expected for the end of this week and into the weekend.

How well do you know your gars? These very cool fish might just be in a waterbody near you!

On this week's episode of Fish of the Week, Solomon David (the "Gar Guy") is back and this time Katrina and Guy are talking with him about gars in the genus Lepisosteus. By the end of this episode, we GAR-antee you'll be a lot more familiar with the longnose, shortnose, spotted and Florida gars...and hope your curiosity about (and love for) these fish will be piqued even more. 🐟❤️
