Memory Monday: My daughter had a crush for Captain America and would not stop hugging him. This was a great memory today, because hugs with characters is back starting today at Disneyland and Walt Disney World.

Memory Monday! Some of my best Walt Disney World memories are in the rain. While many sick for cover, we continued to enjoy and even may do a little puddle jumping. This picture also reminds me of a game we play with some great friends. They too love Disney and we send each other pictures on our trips in obscure spots and play “Where in the WDWorld are we?” It’s fun and we get to share our trips!

This past weekend was my birthday. We ended up having a pretty big change of plans. However, even changed plans can result in wonderful memories. We got out the fire pit (my birthday present) and I created a “S’morcuterie.” I was blessed by neighbors coming over to help us celebrate. It was a great weekend and canceled plans paved the way for precious memories.

Travel Tip Tuesday: Whether flying, or cruising, or traveling outside of your home area, many places still require masks. Trying to juggle those while eating, having bathroom trips, or other areas where taking them on and off can occur, I suggest lanyards like these. Rather than Mom and Dad juggling and keeping track of them for everyone, these allow the masks to be readily available around your neck and avoid the germs of multiple hands in and out of pockets. Or worse, left on tables, in bathrooms, dropped on sidewalks, etc. Really helpful for kiddos and they can pick their own color.

Memory Monday: My daughter and Captain Hook comparing shoes on Castaway Cay. Disney Cruise has Captain Hook and Smee greeting people at the ship on this island day. My daughter liked his buckles! Love the memories from cruising. It’s a relaxing time for everyone (even Mom!)

Foodie Friday: Let’s be honest, one of the best parts of travel is the food and drinks! This is the South Seas Traveler from the Yak and Yeti at Walt Disney World Animal Kingdom. Pair this with some Ahi Tuna nachos and you have a perfect meal. Yum!

Think about it Thursday: Today is World Book Day, this made me think an interesting question. If you could travel to any destination from a fictional story, where would you travel? For me I would go to Oz, Naboo, Middle Earth, or Hogwarts. What is cool, is most of these places have real world counterparts. I couldn’t narrow it down to just one! Where would you go if anywhere were possible?

Welcome Wednesday: Wednesday is when I highlight places in the United States (domestic travel). Disney travel is my favorite, and the travel that started it all for me. Walt Disney World is celebrating 50 years open. Such an iconic place and an iconic castle. Takes my breath away each time I see it. My kids love it and get excited every time they see those spires (even models and lookalikes). Can’t wait to go back “home.”

Travel tip: When going on a cruise or somewhere warm and tropical, pack a bathing suit for each person in your carry on. It can take a few hours for your bags to reach you on a cruise, or you have time before your room is available, and this can be some of the least crowded time at the pool as people explore the rest of the ship. When flying to warm vacation spots it also helps you in case of delayed bags, you can enjoy the resort without having to shop for swimwear.

When we lived in Southern California we took regular trips to Disneyland. It was so fun to be there and see the original Disney theme park. On this particular trip I went with other travel agents. We got to meet the Imagineer Bob Gurr. Such great memories from that trip.

With the CDC moving cruising to Level 3, felt like perfect time for a cruise memory. For my 40th birthday my family went on a Disney Cruise out of San Diego. So much fun with great memories!

I’m sure you’ve seen on TV the release of the Harry Potter movie cast reunion. Or maybe seen the new TV competition among the four houses. If you are ripe and ready for some true Potter nostalgia, let me suggest Universal Studios and Universal Islands of Adventure. Rounding the corner in the park and seeing the Hogwarts castle for the first time, making your way to Gringott’s bank in Diagon Alley, or getting your first taste of butterbeer, these are all experiences that make you feel like you are in the heart of the books and movies. Let me set you up for a huge dose of living in the movies!
