Your day begins with breakfast by an open fire followed by a game drive with a coffee break in the bush then a brunch bursting with decadent, freshly prepared dishes. Afternoon tea caters to sweet and savoury then it’s sundowner snacks on an open plain watching the setting sun. Your day ends with a sumptuous dinner under a blanket of a billion stars. Happy World Hippo Day!

Today we celebrate the second largest land animal on Earth – the Hippopotamus!
Known as a ‘river horse’ these incredible animals can weigh a whopping 8000 pounds (3600 kg). They are native to over 30 African countries and fortunately for us we see many of them on safari in Zimbabwe, often right in front of camp!

A recent encounter with a Leopard Tortoise.

In Hwange National Park there are over 100 animal species and 400 bird species waiting to make your acquaintance. A great guide like Tendai Ketayi will be sure that you take notice of - and learn all about - the little things as well. We stopped to take a closer look at a python that was sunning himself on a fallen log. After we learned all about this snake that we rarely see, Tendai spotted this tortoise. It's a fascinating creature. No wonder it's one of Africa's Little Five.

Experience Curiosity. On a Tasimba Safari.

Baboons, the world’s largest monkeys, are the most abundant and wide-spread species of monkey in Africa.

Social creatures, they are extremely intelligent and curious. Often on safari they will stop what they are doing and watch us as we are watching them. It’s an indescribable moment when you lock eyes with a baboon. Large, canine teeth aside, their gaze is both a challenge and an invitation to learn more about them. So human-like, how can we not be curious about them?

It's World Zebra Day!

On a Tasimba safari we see zebra all over the savannah in Hwange National Park and along the beautiful Zambezi River in Mana Pools. Their small family groups, called harems, dot the countryside in splashes of black and white that stand out prominently against the warm rich colours of the landscape.

Experience Conservation. On a Tasimba Safari.

The conservation of wildlife is not just an act of preservation; it is a profound responsibility we bear for the future of our planet. Every species, no matter how small, plays an irreplaceable role in the delicate balance of life.

The Scorpions Anti Poaching Unit are the ‘boots on the ground’ in the south-eastern section of Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe, who actively remove snares set by poachers (amongst many other duties). Their presence in the bush along with their efforts in educating local communities and school children support conservation of Africa’s precious wildlife.

On every safari, Tasimba guests have the privilege of visiting the Scorpions to see and hear first hand about this important conservation work.

Founded in 2015 by Hugh Coppen, Tasimba is the fulfilment of his lifelong dream to share the transformational power of his beloved African bush with people who pursue personal growth by always wanting to learn more about life and about themselves. Having grown up in Africa and maintained strong bonds there ever since, Hugh has never lost his passion for the wilderness. In his highly successful business career in the US, Canada and the UK, he was a three-time CEO, and is still very active internationally in leadership development.

While Hugh personally leads every Tasimba safari group through their life-changing week, the highly professional Tasimba team under COO Heather Weaver, coordinates every last detail of this extraordinary week to make it a truly unforgettable once-in-a-lifetime experience.
