David Simpson Hospice House is an amazing place. Last week it got even more impressive as patients and staff went on nature walks, attended a basketball game and visited outer space, all without leaving the Atrium. Flipside VR, interactive wellness specialists provided virtual reality experiences.

Virtual reality (VR) allows users to experience immersive, 3D spaces while wearing a specialized headset. It's been proven to ease anxiety, provide a comforting respite and encourage relaxation for both patients and their caregivers.

Patients enjoyed a virtual trip down a lazy river, a view of space, nature, a basketball game among other VR experiences.

One caregiver said, "I have not been this relaxed in days, thank you!"
A patient stayed and enjoyed four different offerings and encouraged her family members to try it; they loved it as much as she did. Staff enjoyed the brief break too and were amazed at the reality of the experience.

To ensure that all of our valued customers stay healthy, Flipside VR will be postponing our scheduled virtual reality sessions until the CDC assures us that outside visitors should not be limited in assisted living communities and rehabilitation facilities. We will be contacting all of our customers to offer possible future dates to provide our service. As always, we use universal precautions while administering virtual reality. All surfaces and head straps are wiped down with a disinfectant solution between uses. Protective disposable facial barriers are also used. We will continue with these practices to keep everyone healthy . The comfort and safety of our clients is our top priority at Flipside VR. Be well, everyone!
