NEW DOMESTIC & INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

REAL ID for US Flights
Beginning May 7, 2025, U.S. travelers will need a REAL ID-compliant form of identification to board domestic flights or enter certain federal facilities. By enforcing this new requirement, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) aims to enhance security by mandating that all state-issued IDs meet federal standards.

ETA for the UK Entry
International travelers planning to visit the United Kingdom (UK) will need to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) starting January 8, 2025. Modeled after the U.S.’ own Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) system, this new scheme will allow UK authorities to screen visitors prior to their arrival, strengthening border security and streamlining the entry process.

Travelers planning a trip to the UK can apply for the ETA online or through a mobile app for a fee of £10 ($12.40). Once approved, the authorization is valid for limitless border entries over a two-year period. This also applies for those transiting through a UK airport.

ETIAS for Europe Entry
Travelers heading to Europe should also prepare for the launch of the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS), which is expected to take effect in May 2025 following multiple previous postponements. This system will require U.S. passport holders and citizens from visa-exempt countries to obtain travel authorization before visiting any Schengen Area country.

The ETIAS authorization will allow for multiple entries for short stays (up to 90 days within a 180-day period) and remain valid for three years or until the traveler’s passport expires, whichever comes first. Similar to the UK’s ETA, the ETIAS aims to bolster security by pre-screening travelers before they arrive.

Once the system is up and running, prospective visitors will be able to apply for ETIAS online, but will need to pay a fee of €7 ($7.21) to do so. Once approved, the travel authorization will be electronically linked to the applicant’s passport.

For anyone wanting a private tour/excursion I would encourage you to contact Tim at MyExcursions Last week was the 2nd time we have used them. Tim put together a tour at our stop in Halifax Nova Scotia. The guide/driver, Terry, was excellent. He not only took us places that are well known, we saw things that are not so well know. Terry was full of local information and history. Filling the drive time with information and antidotes.

The 2nd was for our stop in St. John. Our driver/guide, Kenan, was great. He had the uncanny ability to avoid the buses. We were able to see the reversing falls coming in and going out. He also made numerous stops that were not planned, showing us things "off the beaten path. We have pictures to prove it. His knowledge of the landscape, rivers and impact of the glaciers was outstanding.

Yes, you can take one of the excursions offered by the cruise line, but you get way more for you money booking with Tim at MyExcursions. THANK YOU for taking such good care of us. Kevin

And remember the EU will be starting its electronic visa scheme IN 2025 - requiring US, Canadian, British citizens - and many other nationalities to obtain the ETIAS.

The rules of travel to Europe have changed. Starting in the first half of 2025, some 1.4 billion people from over 60 visa-exempt countries are required to have a travel authorization to enter most European countries. ETIAS is currently not in operation and no applications are collected at this point.

Just received some lovely feedback from clients returning from Italy:

We had a fantastic time and it had a lot to do with you. You were great to work with and your tour guides are amazing. We absolutely loved our Luca and sienna tour guides. As for the day where we were in Rome we did a ton we started at the Vatican and then, the Colosseum and the forum +2 hills.

My only recommendation for that day is for the Guide not to rush us as much as we were - Granted we were doing a lot, but we do like to take pictures and be tourists at times other than that I really have not one complaint.

I gave you a great review as you well deserved it.
Take care,
Jackie H

Just received a nice email from clients taking a day program from Cherbourg to the Normandy D Day Sites. It is always lovely to have feedback - and especially with such as this!

We have returned from our trip and wanted to share feedback from our Normandy tour. It was an amazing day. They provided a customized tour that we all greatly enjoyed. We can not say enough about our tour guide, Raphaelle. She was professional, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic!

Thank you for your assistance and we will definitely be in touch the next time we need a tour/excursion.

Best Regards,
A. C.
