#NationalPeachDay From Memorial Day through Labor Day is a magical time for Alabamians and those in the know for its Chilton County peach season. And much like barbecue and college football teams, Southerners tend to have their favorite peach regions. Located in Central Alabama, between Montgomery and Birmingham, off I-65, is Chilton County, aka "Alabama's Peach Capital." The area produces over 80 percent of the state's peaches. While many are found at farmers' markets, it is worth a stop in the county seat of Clanton for peaches, peach-infused food items and more in places like Durbin Farms and Peach Park, among others.
Can't celebrate #NationalWaffleDay without highlighting Waffle House.

Let's talk about flying on #nationalaviationday. First place Southern Hospitality Magazine highlights is the Delta Flight Museum, at the Delta Air Lines World Headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia that provides an up-close look at the airline's history and development over the decades.
Housed within two 1940s aircraft maintenance hangers (both are the oldest surviving buildings at the headquarters and were designated as a Historic Aerospace Site in 2011), you can view memorabilia and artifacts, a full-scale replica of a Huff Daland Duster, The Spirit of Delta (a Boeing 767 purchased Delta employees in 1982) and much more.
Outside, you'll find a Douglas DC-9 and the first Boeing 747-400 to be built, which can be toured. For more information, visit deltamuseum.org/exhibits/747-experience.
Round out your visit by experiencing the full-motion Boeing 737-200 that was once used to train Delta pilots. It holds the honor of being the only one of its type in the country open to the public.

#tbt #TravelThursday Near Franklin, North Carolina, in the Nantahala National Forest atop Wayah Bald, elevation 5,342 ft., is Wayah Bald Lookout (built in 1937, decommissioned in the 1940s, added to the National Historic Lookout Register in 2007.) The tower is situated at an intersection of the Appalachian and Bartram Trails.
If you aren't a hiker, you can drive to the tower, park and walk along the short, inclined paved trail leading to the three-story stone lookout.
It is said on a clear day (unfortunately, it wasn't entirely that way when Southern Hospitality Magazine visited), you can see all the way to the Georgia Foothills and the Great Smoky Mountains. Regardless of if it's cloudy or sunny, the sweeping views are worth it.
