FULL ITINERARY:
Day 2 – September 16- Wednesday- Arrival to Tel Aviv – Tiberias: Upon our arrival, we are greeted by our English-speaking Christian tour guide and assisted with customs and passport control. Board our bus and drive to Tiberias where we settle into our comfortable hotel. Dinner and overnight at our hotel in Tiberias . (D.)
Day 3- September 17 – Thursday - Caesarea Marittima, Haifa Stela Maris, Muhraka Carmelite Monastery on Mount Carmel, Megiddo. Tiberias Following breakfast, we will check out from our hotel; our journey starts with a visit to Caesarea Marittima (entrance included), the ancient harbor from which St. Paul set off to spread the Good News! we continue to Haifa, to visit the Stella Maris Monastery. We will also visit the Discalced Carmelite Monastery of Muhraqa (entrance included) where Elijah made his famous sacrifice. After Lunch (included) we continue to Megiddo on the plain of Armageddon to see King Solomon’s stables and water supply system (entrance included). Check in to our hotel in Tiberias, Dinner and over night in the Hotel. (B.L.D)
Day 4- September 18 – Friday- Sea of Galilee (Boat ride, Magdala – Capernaum - Tabgha) After Breakfast, depart for the Sea of Galilee to enjoy a morning boat ride (included) and visit the “Jesus Boat” (entrance included), a boat from the time of Jesus. We will celebrate mass at the Mt. of beatitudes. Have a taste of St. Peter’s Fish for lunch (included) before departing for Capernaum (entrance included), where Jesus began His Galilean ministry. Here we explore the synagogue which dates to the time of Christ and see the site of St. Peter’s home. We see the church with a glass- floor which is constructed over the site, allowing us to look down into the excavated ruins of Peter’s house. Next, we visit the Church of the Primacy of Peter, situated on the shore of the Sea of Galilee, where after His resurrection. Jesus met with his disciples and told Peter “feed my lambs; feed my sheep’ (John 21:9). Our last stop is the Church of Multiplication of Loaves and Fishes, commemorating where Jesus fed the crowd of 5,000. We end our day with a visit to Magdala (entrance included), home of St. Mary Magdalene. (B, L, D)
Day 5 -September 19- Saturday- Mt. Tabor– Nazareth –Cana We begin our day with a visit to Mt. Tabor to see the Church of Transfiguration (Taxi to Mt. Tabor is included). A short drive takes us to Nazareth, the town of Mary’s home, where Jesus played as a child, learned a trade, and grew to manhood. We celebrate Mass at the Basilica of the Annunciation, just as St. John Paul II celebrated Mass here during his historic visit to the Holy Land in the Year of Our Lord 2000. Visit the archaeological site to see the remains of Nazareth from the time of Jesus (entrance included). Also see Mary’s Well and St. Joseph’s Church. We have lunch at the International Center of Mary and view a video depicting what life must have been like for Mary in Nazareth (entrance+ lunch included). We stop at Mt. Precipice, from where we have great view of the Jezreel Valley; The angry multitudes wanted to throw Jesus from this mountain after his teaching at the Nazareth Synagogue. We end the day with a visit to Cana, where couples may choose to renew their wedding vows at the Wedding Church. Dinner and overnight in the hotel (B, L, D)
Day 6 - September 20 - Sunday - Sea of Galilee - Baptismal Site - Jericho - Qumran - Dead Sea Swim - Bethany After breakfast we check out from the hotel, head to Qasr Al Yahud Stop for a Baptismal Blessing at Qasr Al Yehoud. This site holds the oldest and most ancient tradition for being the place of Jesus’ baptism by John the Baptist in the River Jordan (Mathew, 3: 13-17). Continue to Jericho the first city to be captured by Joshua as part of his conquest of the Land, site of the Mount of Temptation (entrance to tel Jericho included). After lunch in Jericho (included) we head to Qumran (entrance included) to see where the Dead Sea Scrolls where found by the shepherds. we drive to the Dead Sea and take a dip in the salty and mineral rich waters we end the day with a visit to Bethany to see the home of Mary, Martha and Lazarus. Day 7 - September 21- Monday -Bethlehem - Shepherd field - Ein Karem - Israel Musuem After Breakfast we Head to Bethlehem to visit to the Manger Square and the Church of the Nativity – the birth place of Christ. Bending low as we enter through the Door of Humility, we enter the Church and descend into the Grotto of Nativity. Beneath the Altar, a 14-pointed Silver Star marks the exact spot surrounded by the Latin inscription: HIC DE VIRGINE MARIA JESUS CHRISTUS NATUS (Here Jesus Christ was born to the Virgin Mary). We will celebrate mass in the church of Nativity. We then Visit Shepherd’s Field and Grotto. Continue to Ein Karem where we visit the Church of the Visitation. See Mary’s Spring and the birthplace of John the Baptist. We will also visit the Israel Museum (entrance Included).dinner and overnight. (B, L, D)
Day 8 - September 22 - Tuesday - Mt of Olives - Mt Zion - St Annes Today we begin with a visit to the Mount of Olives, Explore the Ascension Chapel (entrance included) and visit the Church of Pater Noster (entrance included), where Jesus taught the Lord’s Prayer. Marvel at the panoramic view from the Mt. of Olives seeing the eternal golden city. We walk along Palm Sunday Road stopping at Dominus Flevit where Jesus wept over the city. Continue along the Jewish cemetery with a view over the Eastern Gate. Have some quit time in the Garden of Gethsemane, and the Garden of Betrayal. Since the fourth century, tradition has placed the betrayal of Judas here. Walk over to the Basilica of Agony, where we celebrate Mass. Nearby we visit the empty tomb of the Virgin at the Church of the Assumption. Following lunch (included), visit Caiaphas Palace and the Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu (entrance included). visit the Upper Room. our final stop will be in St. Anne’s Church and see the Pools of Bethesda where Jesus healed the Paralytic (entrance included). Overnight in Jerusalem. (B, L, D)
Day 9 - September 23 - Wednesday- Via Dolorosa - HS - Breakfast - Jewish quarter - Wailing Wall - Emmaus Start the day early by praying the Stations of the Cross along the Way of the Cross (Via Dolorosa). We are blessed to be able to celebrate Mass this morning at the Church Holy Sepulchre, the site where Jesus was crucified and buried. Return to the hotel for breakfast and some rest. Continue to the Jewish quarter, visit the Wailing Wall where we tuck a prayer into the Wall. And visit the Western wall Tunnels (entrance included) In the afternoon, we visit Emmaus, where Jesus appeared to the two disciples after the Resurrection. We visit the lovely Crusader Church and meditate in the beautiful gardens tended by the nuns (B, L, D)
Day 10– September 24 – Thursday – FREE DAY in Jerusalem B D (No lunch) + NO GUIDE + NO DRIVER
Day 11 September 25- Friday: Departure
