Taro or Kalo in Hawaiian is a traditional Native cuisine staple.Taro is grown in pondfields known as loʻi in Hawaiian. Early Hawaiians supposedly consumed up to 15 pounds of taro (as poi seen below), per person, on a daily basis.

I will be Volunteering as grounds keeper/landscaper on Sat March 21st-, helping in a community service taking place at the sacred birthing stones of Kukaniloko- which means "to anchor the cry from within," was built in the 12th century by an Oahu chief . On these irregularly shaped stones, royal women gave birth to Ali'i- future kings and queens.
Keeping this cultural site trimmed and cleared of overgrowth, is a great way to preserve Hawaiian history.
