Fall is my favorite time of year at Camp Rappahannock. There are much fewer people around and the changing of the seasons offers a much wider spectrum of colors. With the temperatures cooling down the fishing improves significantly, as the fish are feeding heavily in preparation for winter.
We still have some availability remaining on the calendar. Book your trip before this golden time fades into winter!

World record holder for worst heron photography, right here. 🙋‍♀️We were hanging on the dock when this heron decided to go fishing. He hid in the shadows under the dock, awaiting his prey. When we headed back to the house, I had my phone ready to snag a photo, but alas, he startled me so badly I failed to seal the deal!

Did you s**g back in the day? I sure did s**g a lot in college! (Okay, Brits-- get your mind out of the gutter! Dancing-- not the other type of s**gging.) People would even s**g to non-s**ggable songs/bands (like the Rolling Stones, for example-- though Aint Too Proud was definitely apropos. Something about being on the coast makes me want to go retro. My mom used to do a little jig that was not dissimilar to the Carolina S**g, though I'm not sure that's what she would have called it!

Enjoy a few days away at a private waterfront estate located only an hour from Richmond. This century old home with modern amenities comfortably sleeps up to 12 guests. It includes everything that you need to take advantage of all that the Chesapeake Bay has to offer. Caught a few keeper Speckled Trout right in Sturgeon Creek this past weekend. Hard to beat fresh fish that you catch, clean and cook yourself. River to table with blackened speckled trout. !

I was fortunate enough to spend the weekend in Deltaville with family. We were going out to eat for supper, but after spending a long day in the sun we decided that fixing Miss Lucy's famous crab cakes was a better plan. This is always a great tradition at Camp Rappahannock that is hard to beat!

Memorial Day marks the beginning of summer. We celebrate this change of season with cook outs and parties. We ask that you remember the real reason for this holiday, to celebrate those who have given their lives to protect the greatest nation on earth. Work weekend at Camp Rappahannock. Can you tell we are getting a little punchy? We are besotted over this clover. Dave wanted to see the chair he was painting against the backdrop of the clover. It is pretty artsy, isn’t it? Maybe we felt inspired by the Plein Air Unleashed happening in Deltaville this weekend!

Our guests always share photos of their sunsets with us, which they've enjoyed from the waterfront porch. Folks have savored sunsets on that porch for over 100 years, connecting us all. Here's to being awed by your next sunset.
