It's coming back!
10/30 @ 10:00am: Sea trails have gone well this morning. Last service with the passenger ferry will be 10am from Lummi Island and 10:10am from Gooseberry Point. Crews will change over the floats and other dock equipment to prepare for the return of the Whatcom Chief after the 10:10am service. The Whatcom Chief will return to service around 4:00pm this evening. We will post another update when the Whatcom Chief returns to service, or at 4pm, whichever happens first.

Vacation Rentals On Lummi Island

Lummi Island is a wonderful place to visit. Many articles have been written about our tiny island (7 miles by less than 1 mile) most of them focused on the infamous Willows Inn. There is more to do than experience amazing food here though.

If quiet and relaxing are in your vernacular for your vacation, you have come to the right place. There are fewer than 1,000 year round residents here and our makeup is mostly retirees, some working families, and fewer still full-time artists. We have a small elementary school, post-office, church, Grange Hall, library, cafe, a take-out food stand, and a general store. And that’s about it!

A family can enjoy spending quality time together at on of the many vacation homes available to rent year round. Walking, riding bicycles, beach combing and hiking are some of the low tech options here. If you are looking for night life, our local cafe offers live music on most Friday nights . . .

This page highlights some of the experiences available on the island, and in nearby towns. We also show case some of the independent homes available to rent for a getaway. The island is just twenty minutes from Bellingham, Washington, and a seven minute ferry ride that takes you worlds away.
