It got up to around 85F Tuesday in Bamberg. It was summer for a day. I even went swimming in the River Regnitz. The river is an important social hub in the city. It's where Bambergers gather when the sun is out. It's a beautiful thing.

This was the festive 150th anniversary party for Brewery Kundmüller near Bamberg. They had a large crowd on hand to celebrate the achievements of this standout brewery in Franconia, Germany. I was honored to be a part of it, even if I had nothing to do with it. I'm a fan, though. With Rich Carbonara and Patrick Murphy, fellow tour guides in the region.

People often think of the German diet as being heavy with pork and it is, but trout is also sometimes an option, so.when I see it on the menu I often order it. This one was delicious! The baked potato with sour cream was also a rarer find.

Here's JoJo in front of a typical wooden fence found in Franconia. I was thinking how great it looks until you have to scrape, sand and refinish it. But then I thought maybe they just replace it altogether every five or ten years.

Reporting from the Franconian Switzerland of Germany. This is one of the largest collections of ancient rock kellers I've ever seen at one Bierkeller. It's very thought provoking. Most of these were dug by hand more than 100 years ago.

With a ceramic Krug in Franconia, this is how you indicate to the server that you'd like another beer. It looks more like a distress signal.
A new-for-me Bierkeller waa a good way to round out the day!
If it's Wednesday, it must be Drei Kronen and a visit with Herr Straub. He was very helpful to me more than 10 years ago when I was just starting Bamberg Beer Me! Beer Tours. He's now 74 and going strong!

Beginning my quest to visit new-to-me Bierkellers in Germany. Torrential rain for the past several days in Bavaria has shuttered the Bierkellers, but that doesn't mean I can't still explore them. This one dates back to 1849 according to the inscription in the stone. Just think about all the good times people have had here through the centuries.
