This year we ran our first trips to the Trinity Alps in Northern California. We discovered snow covered mountains, wildflower filled meadows, and a rich variety of wildlife from black bears to black tailed deer. Here are a few of the photos captured by our guests.
We were honored to share the canyon that we love so much with this great group of hikers and philanthropists.

Welcome to our new followers, and please allow us to reintroduce ourselves. We’re Wildland Trekking, a hiking and backpack guiding company on our way to B-corp status. Founded by two brothers in a garage near Flagstaff, we now employ a community of outdoor advocates, recreators, and educators from across the country.
When you think of Moab, you may not think of the mighty Colorado River. But long before the storied waterway enters the Grand Canyon or is tamed by the Glen Canyon dam, it winds its way through a stunning slice of Utah.
Imagine taking in this view after an adventure-filled day hiking around Arches or Canyonlands National Parks. Even better, it comes with dinner and cozy accommodation at Red Cliffs Lodge, our go-to for inn-base Moab itineraries.

Alaska 2025 trip dates are out 🌿🫐🐻. Imagine a backpack set against the backdrop of Denali, an Alaskan Railroad ride on the Kenai Peninsula, kayaking out to a glacier, witnessing the salmon run, or experiencing the aurora borealis. Whatever the contents of your Alaska bucket list, we have a trip for you!
We ran our first hiking tour to Ireland earlier this fall. Here's what guest Trina J. had to say about it:
"On my 11th WTC trip I got to absorb INCREDIBLE scenery of castle ruins, abbeys, & cliffs. Imagine hiking along a trail with unforgettable views while hearing giant waves crashing against the cliffs below. And then, having a lunch prepared for you while you chill in the cool grass. Our guides did an awesome job with everything - I can't say enough about how well they took care of us!! I HIGHLY recommend this trip to anyone wanting to hike in perfect(cool) temps, walk right up to (the edge of) incredible views ,eat at the best pubs with live Irish music and of course Guinness. Thanks Wildland, for another unforgettable trip!"
Happy Halloween hikers! Anyone need a last minute costume idea?

“2 years ago I was diagnosed with brain cancer and last year Eric and I started creating a bucket list. Zion and Bryce were on there and we’ve been thinking about this trip ever since.
We wanted stress free planning. Just tell us where and when and we’ll bring the smiles and energy. It was awesome and our guide made it all the better. He was a well educated, kind, and patient soul. The meals were nutritious and flavorful and the landscape was gorgeous!”

Kilimanjaro, known as “the Roof of Africa” towers over the surrounding valleys at 19,341 feet. It requires no technical ability, just hiking, with the main challenge being elevation. Still, this challenge is significant, with summit success rates normally averaging 65-85%.
We're proud to experience a 91% summit success rate, and here's why:
While many companies economize by getting you in and out as quickly as possible, that is the opposite of the Wildland approach. Our 10-day itinerary gets our guests ‘off the beaten path’ for a fuller, more novel experience. We follow the Rongai Route which provides wonderful solitude, different environments, and views of the mountain before merging with the more popular Marangu route.
After our Kilimanjaro hike, we also provide the option for an add-on Wildlife Safari and Cultural Tour. The Wild Africa Safari visits the Maasai, Datoga and Hadzabe tribes and Wildlife Safaris in Tanzania’s famous Serengeti, Lake Manyara, and Ngorongoro National Parks.

Picking up trash never looked so good ♻️. Shout-out to the Sierras crew for repping Wildland at a recent Yosemite facelift clean up. It means a lot to us to see our guides leaving the places we recreate better than we found them.

Zealand Falls soundbath
Welcome to the White Mountains of New Hampshire 🔊
New Zealand's dreamy West Coast will have you impatient to get out of bed and go explore. There's a reason they film fantasy movies here. It is a reality beyond imagination. Waves and waterfalls, seascapes and hot springs. Have you ever been? Is it on your bucket list?

Brave the weather, beat the crowds. Here's why spring is a great time to visit Great Smoky Mountains National Park...
❄️ The snow is melting
💧The waterfalls are running
🍃The trees are starting to leaf out
🦊 The animals are having their young
🌷The flowers are budding
🚶The nation's most popular national park is a little less crowded.

We sent our social media coordinator on a Yellowstone Snowshoe Tour with guide Scott M. and 5 guests last week. Here's why it blew her away:
❄️ If you've ever visited a popular park in peak season you know how crowded they can get - traffic jams, photobombs, noise pollution, and that guy trying to get way too close to an animal... Visiting a park in the winter feels like having it to yourself.
❄️ Yellowstone has the highest concentration of mammals of any park in the lower 48. Over 5 days we saw 3 coyotes, 2 foxes, 1 wolf, and countless bison, mule deer, and elk.
❄️ Bears hibernate in the winter so no need for bear spray, bear calls or bear caution.
❄️ Winter pastimes like cross country skiing and snowshoeing offer a great way to experience the park from a different perspective. The Old Faithful Snow Lodge even offers free skate rentals for its rink!
❄️ Accomodations inside the park are made cozier by cold temps and are a great place to enjoy hot cocoa, tasty cocktails, good food, and warm fireplaces.
❄️ The park interior is reached only by snowmobile or snow coach (imagine a short bus on monster truck wheels), both incredibly fun ways to enter the winter wonderland that awaits.
Whatever time, Yellowstone deserves a spot on your bucket list. In addition to plentiful animal sightings and beautiful scenery, it has the highest concentration of geothermal features in the world 🌋🔥.
The best hidden gems are a side hike off a long drive outside a small town, followed by a backpack...
🤔 Think you know where to find this place? Leave your guesses in the comments and we'll weigh in.
👋 What if we told you there was a hike, equally as stunning as Zion's famous Narrows, but infinitely more exclusive? With towering sandstone walls and sculpted, winding slot sections, the Paria Canyon is a backpacker's paradise. Even better, a limited permit system ensures only 20 people can overnight along its 38-mile length at any time, safeguarding solitude and unspoiled views.
Need another reason to go? How about a side hike in the world's longest slot canyon, Buckskin Gulch, or similar geology to nearby photo-famous rock feature, The Wave? We promise, you won't be disappointed.

Our Story
Wildland Trekking was born from a love of wild places. From the beginning, the founders envisioned Wildland’s purpose to be facilitating a deep/er love of wilderness in guests. Guiding 10,000+ guests annually in America’s and the World’s most amazing wild lands (Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Utah’s Canyon Country, the Great Smoky Mountains, Patagonia, the Andes, Iceland...etc.) the Wildland Team has remained as passionate as ever about fulfilling its purpose!
With humble beginnings in 2005, Wildland was breathed to life in one of the founder’s garages with a meager marketing budget of $250/month. Since then Wildland has expanded to now include 8 regional domestic offices/warehouses, 175+ staff, 40+ vehicles, 10,000+ annual guests, more than 60,000 total guests, and 5-star status on 8 Trip Advisor pages!
The founders - Steve Cundy, Brad Ball and Scott Cundy - continue to be heavily involved in the day-to-day operations of the company as well as the broader aspects of navigating Wildland into the future. But fortunately they are far from alone. With 30+ incredible in-town staff supporting the trips behind the scenes, the guides are the most visible of a complex and dedicated web of professionals working tirelessly to provide you with an unforgettable hiking vacation.
The guides - who ultimately are a huge part of Wildland’s “product” - are some of the most passionate, dedicated staff imaginable. Wildland is truly blessed with an amazing team of people.
With a variety of trip styles and many, many destinations, we have something for everyone who loves to hike and/or explore stunningly beautiful wild places. We hope to see you soon!
