Last week 50 leaders in travel and climate came together in Bergen and Ålesund, Norway, for the first-ever Innovate for Tomorrow Climate Action Summit! Hosted by Innovasjon Norge , in partnership with the Adventure Travel Trade Association and Tomorrow's Air , its flagship climate initiative. This inaugural event combined immersive learning with actionable insights to empower climate-positive change in the travel industry and beyond.
Over three days, mixed climate science lectures with workshops focused on applying learnings to the tourism sector, delegates focused on collaboration, and strategy, with goal of putting in place new ways to implement sustainable practices in their businesses. Here are just a few of the highlights:
🌍 David Hone set the tone with a powerful keynote on practical climate scenarios, and Gabrielle Walker’s keynote brought urgency to the need for climate innovation like carbon removal.
⚡Rapid fire presentations from: Daniel Vargas, Ingvild Meland, Paul Easto, Court Whelan, Håvard Lien, Eliza Wright, Aranzazu Orbezo, and Milena Nikolova shared insights on topics from sustainable aviation fuel technology to shifting consumer behaviors, sparking lively discussions that continued throughout the summit.
🇳🇴 Alongside these presentations, experts Bård Sandal, Ingvald Torblå, Einar Vaage, and Chris Kristiansen, spotlighted climate solutions uniquely developing in Norway.
💡 O’Shannon Burns led interactive workshops and breakout sessions, designed to inspire reflection, ignite collaboration and drive impactful change.
🚢 The summit also included an unforgettable evening onboard one of Hurtigruten’s hybrid electric ferries, the MS Richard With, where the the company’s senior management shared their groundbreaking initiatives in expedition cruising and climate innovation.
