I am beyond grateful to be out of the office attending the elite Global Travel Marketplace West event in Las Vegas/Henderson, NV. As a top-producing travel advisor, I was chosen to attend from the hundreds of applications that were received for a limited number of spots.

It’s crucial for me to meet with destinations, cruise lines, tour operators, and others, so that I have all the knowledge necessary to plan my clients’ dream vacations.

During the event I will have email access on an intermittent basis and will reply as soon as possible. I return to the office on Thursday, June 5th.

Tours and experiences in Mexico

Let‘s talk about it for a minute ⏰

Because nobody likes an overpriced, underwhelming tour or experience that leaves you feeling like you wasted valuable time on your vacation.

First of all, your giftee is lucky to have you in their life.

And second of all, here are a few tips for a perfectly executed gifted trip:

🎁 If possible, to keep things open-ended. Unless you’re 100% sure someone can depart on the exact dates you decide, it’s worthwhile keeping things flexible, just in case.

🎁 You may want to forgo pre-booking something. Instead, gift a token that represents the trip, like a map, brochure, or travel-related items, and then allow the person you’re gifting to plan the trip with a trusted travel advisor.

🎁 Sometimes it’s not the trip. It’s the journey. You may want to make the person you’re gifting a part of the travel planning process and give them VIP treatment by having an advisor who can curate and do the heavy lifting of booking the travel once they decide where they’d like to go.

Controversial opinion about travel coming at you..

When it comes to travel planning you don’t have to be the expert.

In fact, I would argue that you definitely shouldn’t be.

Why?

Because you don’t *have* to be.

You want to have great travel experiences, and truly enjoy your very valuable vacation time, right?

The fastest and easiest way to do that is to use the strengths of the people and the resources around you.

Your calendar will thank you.

Your bank account will thank you.

YOU will thank you.

Focus on doing the things in your life you can’t quite delegate, and free up time by finding resources, people, and experts, who can fill in the gaps.

Why spend a bunch of your time planning your trips when there are people for that?

This is tough to admit:

But I didn’t always see the value of planning trips with a travel agent.

I used to spend hours and hours scouring the internet for information and tips to put together my trips and get caught in the trap of booking with third-party sites, not bothering to read the fine print or consider what I’d do if I needed to cancel or change things.

Now that I’m on the other side and do this for clients, I’m glad I went through those challenges first-hand because I now know exactly how my clients feel when they come to me for the first time feeling frustrated.

My clients almost always express wishing they’d known sooner that travel planning doesn’t have to be that hard.

Travel can be stress-free.

Travel can be easy and fun.

Travel doesn’t need to take hours and hours of your time to plan.

And most importantly, travel can be whatever you want and need it to be.

Summer is, without a doubt, the busiest travel season in Europe. So, if you’re headed there this summer, remember to:

✅ Plan and book your sightseeing in advance — some sites have limited tickets daily. And even better, book a ticket that allows you to skip the line so you don’t spend hours waiting.

✅ Pack smart. I always carry a packable poncho or umbrella for surprise torrential downpours. And I always have a scarf as well, just in case restaurants are chilly or a religious site requires a little more coverage.

✅ Choose your day bag wisely. I try to avoid backpacks because they can be hard to monitor. I like to opt for a crossbody bag or satchel instead — these are much easier to prevent theft.

✅ Eat away from the crowds. I always like to venture 2-3 blocks away from the tourist sites when it’s time to eat. You’ll find more authentically local cuisine, and you’ll avoid the higher prices in touristy areas.
