According to most people, Santa Claus hales from the North Pole but according to the Finns, Rovaniemi is Christmas HQ, located just north of the Arctic Circle in Lapland, Finland. Children here make gingerbread cookies with Mrs. Claus, enroll in Elf School go on sleigh rides, visit with reindeer and may even see the Northern Lights. It's a truly magical place to spend your holidays.

We can't do a series on the best cities to visit for Christmas without including New York! From the magical holiday windows along 5th Avenue to Rockefeller Center and Radio City Music Hall, a visit to NYC in December will get even the biggest Grinch in the Christmas Spirit!

The Scottish capital is magical at the best of times, but it's especially enchanting during the holidays. The light shows and Christmas trees brighten up the dark nights spectacularly, and the church spires, Edinburgh Castle, and the Royal Mile are decked out in their festive attire. If you can stand the cold (with some help from Scotch Whiskey), you are in for a magical experience.
