Imagine taking 52 vacation days in 2024, while only using 15 days of PTO. It's possible, with a little planning.
The key is to stack your PTO days with federal holidays and weekends. Here's a sample itinerary for how to maximize your travel days in 2024:
January 2-5: Take Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday off for a 9-day weekend.
February 20-23: Take Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday off for another 9-day weekend.
March 26-28: Take Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday off for a 9-day weekend.
April 1-15: Take Friday, April 1, through Monday, April 15, off for a 15-day weekend.
May 26-28: Take Sunday, May 26, through Tuesday, May 28, off for a 9-day weekend.
June 1-5: Take Wednesday, June 1, through Sunday, June 5, off for a 9-day weekend.
September 1-15: Take Sunday, September 1, through Monday, September 15, off for a 15-day weekend.
October 1-15: Take Tuesday, October 1, through Monday, October 15, off for a 15-day weekend.
November 25-27: Take Sunday, November 25, through Tuesday, November 27, off for a 9-day weekend.
November 29: Take Friday, November 29, off for a 9-day weekend.
December 23-24: Take Monday, December 23, and Tuesday, December 24, off for a 12-day weekend.
December 27: Take Thursday, December 27, off for a 12-day weekend.
December 30-31: Take Monday, December 30, and Tuesday, December 31, off for a 12-day weekend.
That's 52 days of vacation, using just 15 days of PTO!
Of course, you may not be able to take all of these days off in a row. But even if you can only take a few at a time, you can still maximize your vacation days by planning ahead.
