Flight cancellations can disrupt even the best-laid travel plans. While it's a stressful experience, knowing what to do can make a big difference.

Here’s a quick guide to help you manage the situation effectively:

Act Quickly and Stay Calm: Once your flight is officially canceled, immediately get in line to speak with an airline agent at the airport. At the same time, use the airline’s app to explore options or call their customer service.

Utilize Your Travel Advisor: If you're working with me, let me handle the stress for you! Contact me as soon as possible, and I'll begin working on alternative arrangements and advocating on your behalf.

Know Your Rights: Depending on the airline and the region (like the EU or US), you may be eligible for compensation, rebooking at no additional cost, or refunds. Knowing these rights can empower you to request appropriate accommodations or compensations.

Explore All Options: While waiting to speak with an agent, use any downtime to research alternative flights yourself. Sometimes, you might find a quicker solution or an alternative route that the airline has not offered yet.

REMINDER: All Americans traveling to the UK...

The UK Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) is now in effect.

All American travelers will need an ETA to enter the United Kingdom. This new requirement is part of a broader effort to enhance border security. It costs about $13 and is valid for two years, covering multiple entries into the U.K.

Make sure to apply online for your ETA well ahead of your travel date! I would recommend doing it while you're booking your flights and hotels so you can rest easy knowing it's already taken care of.

Check the official U.K. government site for application details, and ensure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your intended stay.
