On this day 65 years ago, the monorail AND Matterhorn Bobsled attractions opened at the Disneyland Resort.
The Disneyland Monorail uses a 600-volt DC power source which does not emit an exhaust or pollutants into the atmosphere and was the first transportation system of its kind in America.
The Matterhorn Bobsleds was the first roller-coaster-style attraction at Disneyland Park—and the very first tubular steel coaster in the world.

Don’t Mickey and Minnie look fabulous in their new outfits created especially for Lookout Cay on Lighthouse Point! This is the new private island for Disney Cruise Line guests. Their brand-new, tropical looks were created by Bahamian fashion designer Theodore Elyett.
