I loved every minute of family time in Punta Cana. We enjoyed Royalton Luxury Resorts Diamond Club accommodations, visited Saona Island, went on a shopping tour, ate wayy too good all day every day and spent entirely too much time in the sun(if possible)☀️😎🏖️

So lets jump right in and discuss Royalton Punta Cana and Royalton Splash with our pros and cons!

**Pros:**

1. **Location:** Royalton Punta Cana is, in my opinion, situated in the best part of Bavaro Beach. The beach is pristine with no sticky seaweed, even early in the morning. We walked the beach several times throughout the day, and it was by far the best stretch of beach on the resort stretch.

2. **Food:** Typically, at all-inclusive resorts, you find one or two dishes you enjoy and stick with them. Not here! The buffet offered a variety of delicious options each day, and all our specialty dining experiences, from breakfast to dinner, were excellent. My favorite was probably Zen the hibachi grill🤌🏽

3. **Amenities:** As Diamond Club members, our room was perfectly located with an ocean view, close to all pools and the beach. While not overly spacious, the room met all our needs. The shopping was enjoyable, and the gym was decent for those who like to work out on vacation 😳(my husband and brother-in-law)🙄😘

4. **Diamond Club Extras:** We appreciated the exclusive room locations, private beach area, and separate beach bar. The resort layout is traveler-friendly and not too large to navigate. They provide drivers and golf carts to transport you to Royalton Splash, with a wait time of no more than 10 minutes, consistently.

5. **Entertainment and Atmosphere:** The entertainment was top-notch, with good music, foam parties (kids included), live shows, and fun poolside activities.

6. **Privileges to Other Royalton Resorts:** We enjoyed visiting Royalton Splash for their water park and restaurants.

**Cons:**

1. **No Elevators:** While there will be an elevator in the main check-in building once renovations are complete, there are currently none in the other buildings, including the room locations. This could be an issue for older or less mobile guests and should be noted before booking. For our clients with a possible mobility issue we can simply request a ground level room to accommodate you.

2. **Butler Service:** Our butler service did not meet expectations or match the advertised standards. I met with the manager, who kindly explained that some services were affected by ongoing renovations. However, the butler service still fell short of an A+ experience.

**Side Note about Royalton Splash:** The water park is fantastic and a lot of fun. However, please inquire with us further if you are considering this resort for a beach-focused vacation.

Check out this AWSOME Cruise I recently planned for a Group to Alaska.

I can’t take all the credit for it though, when my clients came to me and said they wanted a cruise to Alaska I was immediately inspired.

Here are some of the highlights:

Departing from Vancouver, they’ll start with cruising the inside passage from Vancouver to Seaward. Traveling and stopping though out the Seymour Narrows, Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, Glacier Bay, Hubbard Glacier, and Seaward. This route worked out perfect for them because they got to add in their desired shore excursions such as, Whale Watching, Hubbard Glacier & Wilderness Explorer, White Pass Railway & Suspension Bridge and many more. White pass Railway is a must, no trip to Alaska is complete without a ride on the White Pass & Yukon Route narrow gauge railroad! AND to top it off they are doing a Meets bear on land and sea!

On the agenda while they’re there is also a venture into the pristine wilds to look for iconic Alaskan animals such as humpback whales and grizzly bears in their natural habitats. Their adventure will begin aboard a whale-watching boat accompanied by a naturalist that will describe the creatures that they may soon observe!

I literally breathe a sigh of relief every time a client makes it to the airport, boards their flight, and is officially on the way.

But what happens if you do miss your flight?

1️⃣ First, if you’re headed to the airport and you’re pretty sure you won’t make your flight, contact the airline en route to let them know. They may even be able to start making arrangements for a new flight and corresponding return flights. Did you know if you are traveling with a package deal and you miss your flight they will automatically assume you are not coming and will proceed to cancel your resort, airport transportation, and your return flights! Whew!

2️⃣ When you arrive, make a beeline for the airline’s customer service desk — they’re your best allies for getting booked onto another flight.

3️⃣ Get in touch with your travel advisor (Hey hey, that’s me!) so I can re-arrange your airport transfers and call the hotel to let them know you’re arriving later so you don’t risk all the listed cancellations in #1.

When travel plans hang in the balance, it’s a must to have support and someone to help smooth things over.

5 of my best tips to get you through yet another crazy travel year:

✈️ Book those flights well in advance. At least three to four months in advance for international trips and six to eight weeks for domestic trips.

🛫 Avoid basic economy fares. Friends don’t let friends book basic economy, and friends definitely don’t let friends end up with added fees and no chance of a refund in case plans need to change.

🔎 Avoid online travel agencies. I need a whole novel to cover all of the reasons, but the biggest one is the lack of consistency and care and the fact that you’re always at the bottom of the barrel when you book through an online travel agency.

✨ Look for added value. No surprises, travel is not as cheap as it once was, so finding ways to add value to your getaways is key. Working with a Travel Advisor is a great way to get access to better rates, promotions, extra perks, etc.

⏰ Give yourself maximum flexibility. Whether it’s booking the flex fare or refundable hotel rate or adding travel insurance (always have travel insurance!), give yourself lots of flexibility just in case things don’t go exactly as planned.

Right now, the hubby and I are considering a relaxing all inclusive with the kiddos in Punta Cana.
