Rich Firato, known as the “Pirate of Morgan Hill,” died last Thursday. He was 64.

Every now and then a person comes along who is larger than life, who makes a significant impact on all he meets, is so optimistic he causes others to think differently, is so humble he puts the needs of others ahead of his own, is so generous he makes personal sacrifices so others prosper, and just being in his presence can bring a smile to your face. Rich Firato was that person.

Rich was indeed larger than life, he was kind and generous, and always willing to help. He was deeply loved by everyone who knew him. His passing leaves a tremendous void in the hearts of so many. Thank you to the Firato family for sharing this man, the positive pirate, with us for all these years. God rest his soul.
