𝙇𝙖𝙨𝙩 𝙬𝙚𝙚𝙠𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙨𝙠𝙚𝙙: "Should I get rid of the ants on my peonies?"
Ants and peonies go together like toast and jam, good by themselves, but better together!
You’ll want to shake off any ants before bringing peonies in the house, but ants do not harm peony plants or flowers. In fact, they are helpful!
Peonies don’t need ants to open (an old myth) but the ants and peonies do enjoy a mutually beneficial relationship.
🌸 Peony flower buds secrete nectar, which is a food source for the ants.
🌸 The ants guard their food source, protecting the blooms from flower-eating insects.
🌸 Once the peonies finish blooming, the ants will move on to find other food.
Enjoy your peonies, and don’t worry about the ants!
