We had a nice turnout of cars at today’s C&C as part of the BMW CCA X Chapter X Drives America as we took the hand off of the G05 X5 model from the National Capital Chapter before handing it off to the Tidewater Chapter. Thank you to everyone that could make it out and sorry to the BMWs we did not get a picture of.

Final Reminder: Registration for Mid Atlantic Motorwerkes Fall Festival of Cars on Saturday, October 12th closes at the end business today. With over a 120 plus people already registered, this should be a fun day of driving, food, and enjoying good car company. This is a private invite from Mid Atlantic Motorwerkes which they opened up to BMW CCA and Shenandoah PCA members and they asked us not to share it with anyone else.

A great documentary narrated by Jay Leno on McPherson College becoming the first student restored car to place at Pebble Beach. If you are not familiar with McPherson College, they offer a Liberal Arts degree in automotive restoration. They are basically the Harvard of automotive restoration. The documentary may not be about a BMW, but it’s an amazing story and Victoria Bruno, who is in it and now an alum, when she is not doing her day job restoring vintage Ferraris, she is working on her Techno Violet E36 M3.

Last weekend one of our members invited all of us out to the Charlottesville Cars and Coffee before the Blue Ridge Boogie. A great reminder of how lucky we are to have so many Cars and Coffee in the area.

The Tidewater Chapter’s Street Survival for September 7 and 8 in Garysburg, NC is looking for coaches, volunteers, and students! If you know of any students that may be interested, please direct them to the link below, you do not have to drive a BMW to participate. This Saturday (8/17) is the chapter’s Blue Ridge Boogie. Whether you can attend or not, please consider joining some fellow chapter members at Charlottesville’s Cars and Coffee at Barracks Road Shopping Center (1000 Emmet St N Charlottesville, VA 22903). The event starts at 8 am and runs till 10 am so anyone planning on attending the Blue Ridge Boogie will need to leave about 15 minutes early. So, let's get a great BMW turnout this weekend!

Karting Jul 2011

Karting at G-Force yesterday. Got an early pass on Brad, who then hunted me down only to find me taking some "defensive" lines to hold him at bay. Nevertheless, his relentless pressure caused me to make a mistake, and he got by and ran away. I got a little too enthusiastic trying to catch him at the end and spun, and then spun again trying to make the pit-in when I missed the checker. I'm sure these same things happen all the time to Sebastian Vettel...

More of Frank's helmet cam from G-Force on 1/15/11. I spun--again--on the first lap. Cold tires--that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Was stuck for a couple minutes, and almost collected the entire field. Look for Holcomb to whack Brad! I edited out the boring (though blazingly fast) parts with just me driving 'round solo, and kept the more interesting parts with passes at the end. Ricardo DeMoraes Ayrton Senna Da Silva gives me a few good whacks on the last lap. This was FUN! Thanks again, Bard, for organizing.
